7000 steps

First look at what it takes to reopen WIPP after LANL drum blew

The Energy Department has identified 7,000 steps needed to reopen its badly damaged nuclear waste dump in New Mexico, but cannot say how long it will take or how much it will cost.

Big deal! Terry Wallace and Team Chavez have determined the WIPP drum that "farted" has taken at least 20,000 (and counting) chemistry chain steps so far. Take that NNSA!

Let's see.....that's three steps per month.....about 2333 months.....divide by 12.....a 194 years to remain on the payroll!

Well done you featherbedding bastards!

DOE/NNSA is good at identifying steps and piss-poor at closing them.

LANL (Wallace and Team Chavez) are analyzing this problem with the assumption that they knew what went into the suspect drum. I can tell you first hand this is a bad assumption. Those of us who work at the Waste Characterization, Compaction, and Reduction Facility (WCCRF) know that we often insert mysterious items in the drums that go to WIPP all the time.

Is Jimmy Hoffa in one of those drums? That would be very mysterious but would explain a lot of things!

Please indicate on the doll which mysterious items you routinely insert into these drums.

Annoying coworkers' body parts, various types of personal hygiene devices, an occasional bag of disposable diapers from home, used parts from my truck, old tires, anything that the landfill won't accept, empty vodka bottles from my desk at work, old Hustler mags (also from my desk), scratched-up porn dvds, leftovers from my wife's cooking that I said I loved. Hell, anything that I never want to be traced. It's easy.

"old Hustler mags (also from my desk),"

As strange is it may seem these would actually be worth good money. I am surprised you would throw these away.

Couldn't take them home - my wife would pitch a fit.

As I recall we tossed a hard disk into a drum. Something about it being found behind a copier and not beg needed any longer.

That's the beauty of the LANL Transuranic Program. McMillan an his predecessors (e.g. Anastasio) have used this waste stream to dispose of "problems" in an permanent underground salt mine 600 meters underground with no chance of retrieval or recovery. These guys from Livermore are geniuses. Now I understand why they came to LANL.

"Now I understand why they came to LANL."

These turkeys are no more than lowlife carpetbaggers "following the money" in Charlie boy's own words. Sure, they have managed to screw the taxpayer out of millions, and in this day and age, that is perceived to be brilliant. They have elevated waste, fraud, and abuse to an art form -- especially fraud, with no repercussions from the pansies in DOE who are supposedly in charge, but are mostly out to lunch. They have effectively bamboozled the numbskull congressional representatives of the taxpayers that they are screwing on a daily basis. These guys should be in orange jumpsuits, rather than their silk shirts.

Wallace is attempting to make it appear that the chemistry on drum that "blew up" at WIPP is so complicated that no one could have ever known about this potential event. Bulllsshhiit!
