Anonymous posting and commenting

So someone went through most of the existing threads today and posted "So what?," Who cares," "It is unimportant." ""Everybody does it," and similar nihilistic c**p. This blog seems to periodically attract such losers, who either are trying to elicit flame-throwing responses, or are seriously disturbed individuals who need help and are accessing the only mechanism they see for getting it. Either way, pathetic. I never thought I'd say it, but maybe it is time for this blog to abandon anonymous posting and require real-name registration. Then we'll see who the true believers are. And exactly who supports the goals here and who is just indulging in digital flatulence.

Prediction: Abandon anonymous postings, and the blog will soon become devoid of content related to misdeeds and management failings at the labs. Fear of retaliation is a powerful silencer.

There is a claim that anonymous is needed to protect whistleblowers. I doubt anonymous postings are any form of shield from a vindictive manager. If a person offends the wrong person in power it's quite easy to track down the poster. Snarky trolls should note that as well.

Great anonymous post.

Yes, my managers are always watching. They will have no problems tracking me down through my anonymous posts and retaliating against me. Given how smart and technically competent they generally are, doing this would be a piece of cake for them.

Sounds like somebody is trying to suppress the discussion on this blog by intimidating potential posters, that's all.

Wow, I have rarely read such a pathetic post. Obviously you count yourself as a victim who has no recourse and is basically a slave to your management. I guess considering yourself an independent actor with desirable skills and abilities, who can successfully present himself to alternative employers as a potentially very valuable employee is not within your capabilities? How then did you get hired in the first place? How can you have any self-respect being such a spineless loser? Truly valuable employees are always in a superior position to their managers. If you can't, or don't know how to, become one, you are destined to be a failure in any career choice you make.

Wow, 9:31 pm. Even Watson, a computer program developed by IBM, can now understand irony and sarcasm.

Maybe 7:12 should have included a winky emoticon to give 9:31 a hint.

There are many posters on this blog who express sentiments identical to those of January 28, 2016 at 7:12 PM, without any intention of irony or sarcasm (or else who is he mimicking?). Those pathetic fools should read January 28, 2016 at 9:31 PM's post anyway, just as a dose of reality.

And, many trolls who drop a bait to hook the 9:31s. Great Sport !
