Can anyone explain?
This makes no sense unless LANS is intending to bid as the current LLC, which seems very unlikely. LANS was established for the sole purpose of bidding on the contract for, and running, LANL for DOE/NNSA. It has no other function or business. Can anyone explain this rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic?

I think LANS is in fact bidding again but UC will not a much larger fraction.
"Can anyone explain?"
I would imagine that someone finally had the balls to cut Norm Pattiz loose. Everyone, and I mean everyone, either feared or cherished his wealth and power. He was personally responsible for all the death and destruction at LANL during the past 10 years. This guy is BAD NEWS!
The reason that UC and Bechtel are still considering being partners is because the bidder pool is currently thin. This is more than a hallway rumor, meetings are happening. Ugh.....
