LANS isn't going away at LANL. Bechtel will get their meat hooks even deeper into LANL after LANS bids and then wins the next NNSA competition. They'll win because no other reasonable bidders will appear so the competition will be easy for them.
Yeah, I know it's sick but that's how the world works. Prepare to meet your next set of Bechtel overlords. Don't even think about inquiring about how Bechtel will offload their own pensions costs onto the LANS pension and the cuts to unsecured employee and retiree benefits that are planned for LANL. What an ugly mess!
I am also hearing that UTexas and Battalle are putting in a bid, so that is at least two entities. I am hearing that Bechtel will have a much smaller role to play and have subtly told that they will not be charge like the last time.
Could UC and Bechtel win? Who knows but I think it is becoming clear that our anti-LANL troll is going is not going to be happy as things are looking up for LANL.
This has come full circle. Now we are talking about LANS survival. The only way this happens is if the interest is so low that no one challenges the incumbent. Unfortunately, I'd say this is a 50% chance at this point.
The fact that the current contract at WIPP was extended, the same contractor who did not perform well under pressure when the the Valentine's Day incident occurred and with other notable safety incidents, is very interesting. So I agree that it is too early to preclude the incumbent. Remember, Bechel is a big contributor to the Republic party, has lobbyists on its payroll, and also, it's the cowboy mentality that's the problem, not management.

How on earth is it a cowboy mentality? We have gone through this time and time again and it has been shown beyond any shadow of doubt that there is not and never was a cowboy mentality. I don't know what your problem is but you have some kind of weird agenda and it sounds like a personal problem so keep it to yourself.
Alas, the comment was made tongue in cheek, with humor, with sarcasm, pro cowboy - no weird agenda, Mr. or Ms. Sensitive
Here's an exercise for the observant: while walking the halls keep track of the ratio of people wearing cowboy boots vs those wearing running shoes. Also , how many of the boots actually have cowsh--on them.
