Dead? I did not know that.
A blog is mostly driven by comments, and someone willing to maintain it of course. While one might quibble with the efficacy of the upkeep, the problem would seem to be a lack of interest as evidenced by active comments and discussion.
Anu suggestions to make it more interesting ?
A single thread use to get up 60 or more posts if you look the postings from last year.
Sometime around Nov the number of posts dropped by 10. I think it use to be you could post and see your comment right away so you could have a much faster back and forth, now you have to wait a day or more to see if you post will even appear and often it does not for whatever reason.
Wrong ! I publish posts and comments several times a day , as advertised .
I sometimes wait as long as 24 hours to see my posts. "Several times a day" might be true some days but it isn't true every day.
OK. This is a best effort service. You don't expect your post to be up instantly, do you ?
The slowdown seems to have started when Wallace came in at LANL. Maybe related to his minions loss of McMillan as a favorite target?
Explain how that would slow down postings on the blog???

OK, not a clue what that means. "Best" in the sense that's the best the moderator can do? Or "best" in the sense if it's the best blog out there for rapidity of postings? I suspect the former and that is obviously a pretty low bar for quality of service. Like everything else in the world, you get what you pay for and it's worth every penny.
Since you know you get what you pay for , why are you complaining hey ?
Why are there so few postings and comments this year compared to last?
The most obvious answer is that there is nothing wrong at Livermore. Also, most everyone is happy with how smoothly the contract change at LANL is proceeding. And, Sandia is cooking right along under the new management. Nothing to complain about equals fewer postings and comments. But,you'll probably see an uptick in squawks once the new benefits package is released at LANL.
The less obvious, but more probable, reason, is that this blog is just less interesting, due to posting delays and less tolerance from the moderators of strong opinion. Moderators create moderation, in every aspect of the blog, including interesting and provocative content. The interesting (if provocative) posters go elsewhere.
Anu suggestions to make it more interesting ?
How about the moderators slack off a bit and allow more provocative content? What will it hurt (except their feelings)?? Scooby's favorite "don't let the door hit you..." comment should also apply to people offended by provocative content. The borderline between interesting and boring is slim, and a strict, controlling moderator never helps a boring blog, but may wind up with a silent one. If you want technically accurate, politically neutral, and socially correct, accept the fact that almost no one else does on an anonymous blog. It has been shown many times over the yeas here, that most posters have some sort of ax to grind. Nature of the beast.
The present watered down version of what was once a lively discussion can be blamed on the Evil Weevil, who, like most do gooders, imposed her will and then dissapeared.
its blog burnout, brought on by the fear of Bechtel staying on, folk were desperate for information and hung on every post. Now that pressure is gone, people are taking a break.
You want me back?
I helped get rid of the trolls that swamped the forum. Scooby and I had clearly published rules and we followed those ruled rigorously - no hate speech or personal attacks. No personal opinions from either of us came into the fray unless we overtly posted our own entry stating those thoughts.
Of course the volume went down after the troll postings were suppressed. What was left is the true interest group for the labs. If that is dwindling then it's dwindling.
You're entitled to blame me all you want - this forum, Trump being president, global warming, any other delusions you may have. I'll smile just as sweetly, signing my name to the posts unlike you, Dr. Anonymous.
Yikes, just go away already! Sheesh! No one needs you or wants you.

One can only notice that you do not, in fact, sign your name to your posts, using a catchy pseudonym instead. Unlike Scooby, who has come clean as Julian.
