"Senators Probe Acting NNSA Chief About Livermore Pits, Foreign Uranium"
"In a budget hearing that was mostly a best-of, a couple senators asked the acting head of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) about alternative means of meeting the mission objectives of the day, including by producing pits at the Lawrence Livermore..."

Did Verdon inform the questioners that we moved out a lot of SNM from the superblock and then reduced the security force from superblock some years ago, at the behest of all of those neighbors who built their homes right next to the lab? They voiced their concern of high powered weapons fired from the lab that might strike their homes. And they voiced the concern of contamination. All of that reminds me of people choosing to buy/build next to an airport and then complaining about the noise.
And there is the issue of binging any type of bomb building capability to the bay area, which politically is bright blue. We need to have Eric Swalwell's input on this one. I doubt that Feinstein would back the idea, she backed NIF on the fairy tale of nuclear energy as opposed to the simulation of a secondary. You can't build a pit and say it's for unlimited clean energy.
Verdon has no practical knowledge of the weapons program. During the heyday of the weapons program he was at Omega Rochester writing a 1D code for their fusion program. He was dropped into LLNL as A division leader because the NIF people wanted more influence over weapons. He’s not a bad guy and was a big critic of Lindl’s BS about NIF igniting on the third shot. He kept telling them to look at the physics in the code, instead of assuming they could accurately tune the inputs and achieve ignition. He was ignored. I’d trust him on anything to do with ICF, but on primaries I would not.

Of course you can! People who believe the Big Lie will believe anything.

Do you happen to know the history of the Big Lie? It comes from Nazi Germany but it is much older than that and the same concept was extensivly used by the communists in numerous revolutions. During that time the Nazi where big in to "canceling" things, they had all sorts of riots, would demand professors be fired, say everything was a big lie, fix elections, turn the media into propaganda, merge the government and business, burn books, ban movies, try and get people fired, confiscate guns, demand that the system be dismantled, and oh yes this is a big one for them everything was about race, in particular all the ills of Germany where due to one group of people. Now does any of this sound a tad familiar today? The parallels between the rise of the Nazis and what is going on today is a bit scary.
I just find it odd that the left and the left leaning media is now going on about the "Big Lie" yet are utterly unaware of the irony when they using that term.
Again before you use the line "The Big Lie" to sound smart because you heard some idiot use on twitter you might want to brush up on your history about what it actually means and how it was used. Here is one the tenants of the Big Lie, is that you always accuse of your enemy of the Big Lie, in other words you alway accuse the other of doing exactly what you are doing. Ask yourself which side believes the following for its agenda.
"There is no truth but power"
Now do you understand which side wants to burn books and why they would justify buying books? Now ask yourself which side today is doing the modern day book burning.

Looks like Herr Trump is headed for jail so that he can spend time writing his version of "Mein Kampf".
No political debate.
