NNSA under trump
So what do the NNSA labs do under the the 2nd Trump administration ?
Russia will take Ukraine. Elon musk will become ruler of the moon. Our taxes will go through roof, millions will be rounded up. Germany had an election in 1933 and the next one was in 1949, 17 years latter .The same thing is happening to the USA. Our democracy is over. But what is so horrible is that we voted to end it. We are on the wrong side of history.
6:24 -- I have always wondered who will build the wall if we deport all the construction workers? Maybe we should figure out some way to 3-D print it? Or we could just ask Mexico to build it, having them pay for it too of course?
"6:24 -- I have always wondered who will build the wall if we deport all the construction workers? Maybe we should figure out some way to 3-D print it? Or we could just ask Mexico to build it, having them pay for it too of course?"
There seems to be a major misunderstanding between what are migrants workers and illegal migrants. Of the people that work in construction, farming and so on well more than 60% are un the US legally under visas. Think about this before 2020 we did not have this excess of 11 million of more surge yet the nation functioned just fine and even worked on portions of the wall. I think of the migrant construction workers those are almost all legal visa holders. I have no idea where all these workers are all "illegal migrants". This is simply not true.
Think what you will of Trump but he has stated that wanted to increase legal migration. He even got some flack for this.
Now that I am at it, the media keeps saying hundreds of economists say trump policies will tank the economy, but the problem is they leave out the hundreds of economists who say the opposite. The media always does this, they say some junk but never give the context.
6:24 -- There are many undocumented immigrants in construction, many of whom are skilled and do high quality work in fact. Apparently Trump hired illegal immigrants at one point, and sometimes he did not even pay them, they went without hard hats too, and without masks to protect against asbestos that was present on the job site -- at least if you believe the news media.
It is alleged of course, that when the workers complained about the pay and unsafe working conditions he threatened to have them all deported:
There are also plans to remove fluoride from drinking water now once RFK is in charge of public health, evidently.
Kennedy made the declaration Saturday on the social media platform X alongside a variety of claims about the heath effects of fluoride.
“On January 20, the Trump White House will advise all U.S. water systems to remove fluoride from public water,” Kennedy wrote. Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, “want to Make America Healthy Again,” he added, repeating a phrase Trump often uses and links to Kennedy.
Trump told NBC News on Sunday that he had not spoken to Kennedy about fluoride yet, “but it sounds OK to me. You know it’s possible.”

This is why you guys lost. This is yet another inaccurate story. You have links to media story but you did not read the actual story or read other media on this. You do the same thing you always do and read the headline only.
Trump did not personally hire illegals, some of the contractors he hired did. There was labor dispute with the contractor, not with with workers, Trump did not threaten to deport them. It is all crap, read the actual stories not just the headlines, think of what the story is actually saying, what it leaves out and so. Look at multiple sources. If you could learn one thing from this mess is you cannot trust the modern mainstream media. This is not the era of Walter Cronkite, Peter Jennings, and Ed Marrow. MSM is about money, not about journalism. They have no obligation to to be honest. You want to hear about how Trump is evil, they will write stories for you about how Trump is evil. Fair enough you can consume what you want but you cannot cite MSM as legit sources anymore. So your point is rejected.
Also at best 20 percent of construction workers are illegal. These are usually for contractors not major construction companies or unions. In some areas there are a number of migrant workers but these are on work visas.
You want all construction workers have hard hats and earn the correct wages, then have a legal controlled migration. Pretty simple.
This is going be disaster, fluoride in water being bad for you is a crack pot conspiracy theory of the ages. We have turned into a nation of conspiracy theorists. I hope all you red states like your teeth to rot.
"Most people in red states, especially WV, KY, AL and MS don't consider teeth as a priority. It is part of human nature to wake up after it's too late."
I cannot imagine why the Dems lost. It is a total mystery. It must be all those dumb uneducated people with bad teeth.
As for fluoride it is well known that the Europeans are far smarter than stupid than Americans and they all fluoridate their water, like Germany, Sweden, Netherlands and France.
" It is part of human nature to wake up after it's too late."
That reminds me there was a certain movie back in the day, it featured Peter Sellers and there was a subplot about communists supposedly promoting fluoridation. Most of the people in the movie were skeptical and did not believe it for some reason. Anyways the communists set off a doomsday device after their supposed plot was uncovered, using an excuse it was set to go off automatically. Anyways, the doomsday device was kind of a dud, it was not big enough to truly end the world, and civilization evidently survived on both sides of the iron curtain.
I have read some articles about Trump's energy policy. He does not seem well versed in energy-related issues but he is well known for a comment that energy efficient light bulbs make him look orange.
He also made the well known quote "with nuclear weapons, the power, the devastation is very important to me", claiming of course that because his uncle was a professor he learned about it -- "Nuclear is powerful, my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago"
There are questions about whether he will cut green energy since supposedly a lot of the benefits of Biden's programs were going to Republican states as well as swing states, such as the inflation reduction act.
Overall support for basic research will continue of course, and as happened in his first term public trust of science may be enhanced:
There is a claim of course, that he will raise fossil fuel production, this will actually hurt the profitability of many energy companies which typically benefit from higher prices, LNG might be an exception as greater exports will drive up energy prices somewhat while creating jobs.
With Elon Musk providing advice there may be the possibility of some sort of improved plan, Trump does think highly of him, and that could lead to more renewables and electric vehicles, and an improved power grid, despite Trump's inclinations.

Hopefully Elon Musk will clean house, eliminate the DNFSB, the Federal Site Offices, and about 90% of the Washington DOE and NNSA bureaucrats.

What will the labs do under Trump? I hope science and merit based hires will return, but that might be a bridge too far at this point.

Hmm, a tad ironic.
