She is over 60. So, I don't expect she'll be in her position much longer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5936951073896589340.post-27506186438421811352017-04-29T09:23:38.392-07:002017-04-29T09:23:38.392-07:00Napolitano is a piece of work. Including my son."

Have you ever considered the possibility that your son was not qualified? UCLA and UCB are that way since they take the best students. What are they going to do with 175 million, bring in more students? Harvard has billions in endowment should it bring millions of students? One thing is clear the UC systems is not very beholden to the state of California and actually receives very little money from it. This started since the Wilson days and now most of money comes from Fed grants, industry and private donors. UCB and UCLA are more like private institutions now in terms of funding so they have little to no obligation to state residents. There was serious talk on just making these schools private in 90s. I am not saying that there are not problems at the UC but I just do not see how UC has to give special preference to California residents when California does not even fund them nor have they funded them for some time. If you look at U Mich and U Virginia it is very similar in that they take 20-25 percent out of state students as they receive very little fraction of their funding from the state.

I do not mean to be cruel but these are just the facts. UCB and UCLA are going to reject many California residents every year. By the way it must be much higher than the 1500 number you stated, I would guess more like 25000 40000 California residents per year at least. Almost all of these students will meet the bare minimum requirement to attend a UC however that does not mean they all can get into the top schools in the systems.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5936951073896589340.post-15047367168630539882017-04-28T04:24:37.569-07:002017-04-28T04:24:37.569-07:00There's only one thing that can restore trust ...There's only one thing that can restore trust in the UC system and it isn't just Napolitano's resignation - Napolitano must be prosecuted. The Kleptocracy must be brought down. Enough is enough.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
