Yet more training.

Have you taken IS0012-W and seen the new work control program? This is another step towards stopping all work except bureaucratic paperwork. What group of idiots sold this?

I took both courses in about 30 minutes. You can pretty much skip to end of the sections and take the test.

My eyes glazed over after the first minute. There is just too much stuff to remember. I can't imagine how anyone can keep all of this stuff straight.

"What group of idiots sold this?"

Why do you need to even ask this question? Big money is being made by managing the NNSA "research" labs for a healthy profit.

Training at the Lab is a formality; do you really learn anything? It is the CYA training!

Does anyone else feel that they keep reinventing the wheel around here?

The sad thing is that senior management really believes the new work control program is an improvement and "the future of the Lab."

Just another reason why I am collecting a few more paychecks, then retiring.

I am proud of the contributions I made to the Lab over the years, but now it doesn't matter any more. The Cold War is over, and so is the mission of the Lab.

The Bechtel Managers in LLNS think the Lab is an undisciplined mess. They have not clue about running a research institution founded by a university. They really do not like or understand how researchers and scientists think or do their work. They are just beginning to realize that LLNL is not a production facility or site with nuclear reactors.

Kill a tree for DOE

Isn't it ironic that LTRAIN and all this formal training nonsense came into being after the Lab had stopped underground testing and new weapons development. I don't know how we were able to do all we did without LTRAIN--and ISMS, ISSM, and all the other useless waste of taxpayer money.
