There is a long history here.. Unfortunately most of those who know about it have retired and had their clearances lapse, so can't discuss it with former colleagues or anyone else. I just hope this isn't a replay of the Wen Ho Lee case, where prosecutors seemingly realized at the very last moment that in order to convict Lee, they'd have to reveal classified information in open court, and the government wasn't willing to go that far. And yes, I'm aware of the provisions for closed session for such things. In Lee's case, many screwups closed off that option. Let's hope the new crop of US attorneys and FBI investigators is better at this.
Does this have anything to do with ICF?
The fact that money exchanged hands at a drop site means this guy is going to sing-sing. Even the FBI couldn't mess up this case.
I think it is interesting that this fellow was fired from Los Alamos way back in 1988. He's been out of the loop for many years. It was a very different world at the weapon labs back then. In particular, security was much more lax back in the 1980s.
One thing's for sure ... he's in the news as a "LANL scientist". I've already talked to people who did not read deeply enough to realize he got canned 22 years ago. So here we go again.
Gee, can the usual NM contributors find a way to blame this on "Mikey" or "Shoes that Grip"?
Yes, Masceroni was an ICF person at LANL, not a weapons designer.

Feeling testy because you didn't get your usually 20% bonus this year, Bret Knapp? How's that?

Typical response by trolls on this blog. There is no need to "blame" anyone. Except possibly the accused, if the offense is indeed charged and proven. Until then, why not exercise some restraint in your rabid need to blame someone? You sound very angry and very focused on some perceived slight. Mmybe you aren't as important as you think you are?

Clearly this guy has not felt the wrath of Knapp. Someday day brother, some day. Only explanation is this is Knapp himself or his buddy Craig Leasure.

Or perhaps just a more calm, rational, uninflamed person? If you hate your upper management so much, why not work somewhere else? Oh, can't find another job? Unemployable outside the LANL cradle? Too bad for you. Bad career choices. Didn't you know everyone has to deal with asshole bosses sometimes? Didn't learn how? Man, the LANL employee whining on this LLNL blog is getting tiresome. Guess that's why Doug quit the LANL blog and no one wanted to take it over. Sad.
