DOE and NNSA just caused LANL to dump 7% of its workforce.
What nuclear careers?
Looks like more money down the rat hole like Solyndra
This must be some type of sick joke from the NNSA.
Nuclear careers with the rapidly down-sizing US weapon research labs? No careers here. They left several years ago and don't appear to be coming back anytime soon!
If in doubt, just read any of the many official reports detailing what has been happening within the NNSA labs. That will splash some cold water on your face and wake you up to what's happened.
NNSA Recruiter:
"Come work at our research labs, bright, US citizen & Top Secret security cleared Phd scientists.
Heck, were 'substantially equivalent' to most other research institutions and those Bechtel bosses are a swell bunch of folks to work under... trust us!"
You guys are so pessimistic. More PhDs means all of the staff can be replaced with perpetual postdocs and temp contract workers. Anybody willing to work in a temp position for low pay after 12+ years of university study will always have a job! After all, LANL explicitly stated they would not be laying off any temp employees. Being a DOE contractor isn't good enough anymore. We will all be contractors of a contractor soon enough.
Reminds me of Dilbert:
The pointy haired boss said they are recruiting the brightest and the best, but paying the industry average.
Maybe they don't want workers smart enough to see thru that?
