With all these cuts, and the uneven suffering between the three lab, something needs to be done to level the playing field. In particular, Sandia needs to give up projects and funding to LANL and LLNL then Sandia needs to be forced to push layoffs.
Sandia needs to give up ridiculous projects and the people who manage the following:

Sandia rid itself of almost 1000 employees 2 years ago by changing the pension calculation (and not for the better) and reducing retiree benefits for everyone remaining on role after December 2011. That was their "layoff"
Maybe Sandia has a side business of making meth secretly, with the chili cookoff work as a convenient cover. That's why they are not suffering financially. Illicit profits to keep people employed!
Sandia needs to be knocked off of its fiscal budgetary high horse simply because it is bad form to be happy amidst all the misery and suffering and poor morale at the other two labs. What kind of degenerates those Sandians must be for doing work as usual as if they are somehow better than everyone else. Show offs.
Aye, Comrade, from each according to their means, to each according to their needs. This is the way the government laboratories should be run. Sandia, the fat and happy capitalist s of the DOE complex should help their Comrades in Livermore who suffer from the evils of flawed physics and overhyped claims.
screw merit-based funding. national labs operate on a communist basis. failure must be rewarded to keep the everyone equal and based on the lowest common denominator. Oh wait, that's how the system actually works today and for the past several decades.
This is cool!
