Leidos and DOE look to save face

The likely result will be the same, it just may take a few extra months after DOE made the screw up on the contract.

It sounds like no real change. NNSA evaluates all the bids again, and decides again, which is what they said they were going to do. The only possible difference might be, the bidders are allowed to make changes, like who the partners are.

Liberals neither know nor care anything for sound market place design nor proven business practices. This Obama appointed DOE leadership displays both lack of understanding and sloppiness in its business pracitces and cares not. The result is a poor market place, poor contact, poor bidders and a litiguous mess. All on dumb ass Obama's watch. Under President Nixon, that is, Rodham, - Mrs. Careless Liar - will fare no better.

DC is a swamp of crooked special interests.

For Arkansas swamp rats? I think not.

I wonder if the bidders will be allowed to make changes to their executive teams. That could be an interesting twist.

When the EM people on the Leidos team take over, the NTS will become nothing but a EM environmental clean up site.

Sounds good, less problems, less accidents, less security issues, how is this a bad thing?

Bad for the NWP, the Site and Las Vegas.

So what, it is good for NNSA and the company that runs it. There are winners and losers in this life so choose wisely.

Bad for the NWP!, LOL like that consideration matters.

NTS is an important national asset. I'd rather see LANL shut down and absorbed into LLNL and SNL before shuttering the only test site in the nation. LANL cannot even run the WIPP, that is full of drums of static waste.

Excuse me but Nevada does not need NTS, New Mexico needs LANL so LANL is not going anywhere. In any case if LANL was ever absorbed into LLNL and Sandia than they would have to hire all the LANL people which sort of defeats your whole "I hate LANL people" motto. So in the end in your lose either way just as you always have. Sorry that you got majorly pwnd yet again but as they say in Nevada, thanks for playing!

Neither LANS nor LANL run WIPP.

LANL may not run WIPP, but LANL's improper actions definitely caused WIPP to be closed.

The blames lies in the privatization of the LANL, not on LANL, so get your facts straight before you post again. We have been over the details about what happened at WIPP many many times of the blog so I thought you would understand all of this by now. ....Sigh

No, it lies with the cowboy culture of arrogance at LANL, just like Vic Reis said.

Can you please provide a source where Vic Reis said "WIPP was caused by the cowboy culture of arrogance at LANL", I am just guessing he never said that however about three years ago when Vic Reis was at LANL he said before a packed audience that the privatization of the labs was a failure.

The issues at WIPP where due to Bechtel and are the main driver of way Bechtel is being thrown out. As you will recall the main issues with WIPP is that the management was asked to consult lab scientists before certain actions where taken but the lab scientists where not consulted, this would not have happened before 2005. In any case Vic Reis never said there was a problem at LANL so why do you bring this up. The demise of Nanos and statistical data has also clearly shown that the idea of any kind of culture of arrogance or cowboy culture is completely false. The fact that the contract is being changed and that it is likely going to go back to non-profit shows that the whole idea of privatizing the labs has been a failure.

Now this just leaves you, all the facts have been laid out to you for the last 10 years yet you refuse to acknowledge them or provide any kind of "proof" or evidence to the contrary. So what does this say about you? Over the years you have refused to give us your story as to why you become the crazed delusional POS that you are. What happened, how did LANL "screw" you over so bad that you are willing to sacrifice you sanity to try and destroy it? Just so you know reality has won and you have lost, you cannot destroy LANL since LANL is just people, most of the people you hated have gone off to other great jobs or to very nice retirements. All the other people at the lab right now can guess what...get great jobs elsewhere just like all the other people that used to work at LANL before them. I know you cannot accept this but you know it is true. The reason you failed at life has nothing to do with LANL, the people at LANL, the people who got college educations, people that worked hard, people that integrity, New Mexico, the United States or humanity. It is all on you and has always been on you, reality does not care about you one way or another but one thing is for sure realty has never and will never bend to your will.

Your implied praise of "the people who got college educations" is belied by your misuse of "where" when you mean "were". Better English would bring you better credibility.

Another careless typo, that could have been avoided with one second of proof reading. Must be a LANL cowboy.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
