DOE/GOOGLE deal

With Google being scrutinized , can they deliver what the DOE want?

So what happens if DOE does the deal in once Google has the data they say you the NNSA labs must have CRT or else they will never get their data back? It is getting kind of obvious that big tech wants to be calling the shots and this just one more way they can do it.

I am trying to figure out how Google will help DOE identify renewable energy resources to cities. How much sunshine, how much wind and how much water flow (tides, hydro-electric dams etc) shouldn't require Google. You would think that the Department of ENERGY should be a subject matter expert already.

Are we going to take exabytes of data from DOE facilities and store it at Google which will have excellent data mining capabilities, for US and the Chinese?

NNSA is going to build its own Private Cloud? In my dealings with NNSA which was in the computer world, they were trying to build their own rice bowl and declare themselves experts. They had one thing the labs needed - the checkbook. Other than that, I found nothing but red tape and empire building from NNSA.

To be honest the people at Google could probably do a much better job at this than DOE. Over the years LANL has repeadly lost some of their best employees to Google. Everyone said the same things, "these people did not fit in" "they where too scientifically aggressive", "the wanted to do their own thing" ect, ect. They can spin this all they want but there has been plenty of talk about high turn over at LANL and a point everyone know but does talk about is that the quality of the people leaving is much higher than the quality coming in. I an assume the same thing is happing in LLNL. Sandia may be different. There is simply way more exciting and cutting edge things to do at Google than the NNSA labs.

At LANL Sarao just gave a all hands for his directorate. Many where disappointed that he did not address diversity, loss of CRT, and BLM. It is unbelievable that in this day and age that a leader of so called world class science would not address the most pressing issues our nation currently faces. If you go any University science department website the first thing you see is a department statement on racism and BLM. Why is there not something like this at LANL?

There is. Try reading a policy document or two. Easy to find on the web.

Because LANL is not a University where wokeness is a criterion for survival. The focus at LANL is national security, which the woke progressives either don't understand at all or insist is irrelevant to the world as they see it. Wokes need to wake up. The next 9/11 will not be limited to 3000 dead.

How many? If it is beyond a minority that feel that CRT and BLM are THE CRITIICAL missions of the Lab, any Lab, then I would predict the deserved demise of such organizations. The missions are National Security.

This should be on the front page of every NNSA lab side, it should be on every managers sig file and should the first they that the Directors talk about during every all hands meeting.

9/11 was horrible and the nation rallied to do something. Every year in American thousands are killed unjustly by the police, yet we do nothing now that we can film this we can see what is going on. National security means nothing unless all people are secure. We need to get our own house in order before we worry about external threats.

And who sets the agenda and the talking points? Perhaps tattoos should be required in the next iteration of requirements.

I don't think we need tattoos should be required but it would be nice if people had some kind of note pad to remind them of their privilege.

As for who sets the agenda and the talking points? How about the people with the lived experience and who have the most at risks. It is time to let marginalized groups have a say for once in this nation.

Tell me what you are doing about the thousands of Blacks that are killed every year by other Blacks who are not police. Then I'll believe you care about Blacks. In 2019, there were 235 Blacks killed by police in the US. There were 370 whites killed by police. There were over 2500 Blacks killed by other Blacks.

Ok Mr numbers, do you see the problem. Blacks make of 13% off the population while whites are 76%. The number of white people killed should be 6 .5 times more than blacks not 1.5 more. When put it in this light you can see why the country is burning down. How would like to live in county where you are 7 times more likely to be killed by police just because of your race.

Oh, and you have no clue about the numbers (These numbers are easy to find). In the US there are 15k murders every year It is about 7500 blacks are murdered every year and about 6800 are black on black. Please get it right. About 6000 whites are murdered of which 4800 are white and white. Hmmm, maybe there is some problems with my math. But you get the point. By the way 2020 is going to be real doozy with a rather large spike in murders.

Ok just forget all the math, none of makes any sense anyway and can be easily distorted to fit any narrative. Lest just go with what we see on social media. This year alone there are several videos of unjustified police killings of minorities. How come you and I nor anyone else this year has seen such a video of unjustified police killing whites? Because obviously such cases do not happen. I have never heard of anything like this on NPR nor read about in the NYT and I am smart and smart people listen to NPR and read the NYT. Now I know you are going to come back with some smart ass statement about smart people knowing math but whatever.

The point is once we have CRT in the labs than you will understand why you comment is so wrong and you better believe CRT is coming back real soon to the NNSA labs and you better get with the programs. Bringing out numbers is a sure why to get yourself in trouble so I suggest you shut up. When the issue of black and black crime comes out or even black on white crime comes up, just understand that it is complicated and that is not the issue right now. We first have to deal with police killings. One step at a time, because once we abolish the police than crime of any race will go down.

The point is once we move CRT to be the accepted norm, we can move Orwell's 1984 from the fiction to the reference section of the library.

I will not have to "get with the program" since I retired some time ago and no longer have to put up with the nonsense. So I will stay here on the outside looking in and laughing at all the the woke idiots who want total compliance with their agenda, the 1st Amendment be damned. Good luck extinguishing 250 years of freedom of expression in The United States of America. You can tell me to shut up. I can ignore you and laugh at you and your ilk. You underestimate the love of freedom in this country.

Was the Orwell word so bad? I have never read the book but does the freedom of a few to own guns and insult people take precedent over having equality for all, safety for all, dignity for all? I think not.

Yes, I am a Boomer and proud of it And yes, I am ok, but apparently you are not. That is not my problem. I am comfortably wealthy due to my own wise life choices, and in a position where nothing our incompetent government (on both sides) can do to hurt me at this point in my life. So yeah, I laugh at all you younger people who think you invented everything and you know everything. I used to think that too, but I've forgotten a lot. Now I just think I know enough that you don't bother me at all. Go screw up he world more than it is, I'll be watching and laughing.

Young people today a creating changes that no thought possible, they are firing against racism, sexism, right off marginalized, people, fighting for the environment, and fighting capitalism. Not only do they do this but they also are very humble and questions themselves and their privileges. To give them credit they are the first to realize that all these issues are connected. Capitalism leads to racism, and environmental destruction at the same time.

You on the other hand have nothing to be proud of, your wealth is unearned and is on the back of all the marginalized people that you never had to compete with. The world is changing and people like you are going to be left behind. The revolution is coming it starts next Tues when the people speak, and we will never ever go back to the way things where.

I grew up poor. I earned every penny I have through hard work in school and hard work at work, things you and your ilk disdain. And I will be very happy to be "left behind" by you, since I have no desire to go where you are going. Me and my economic clout (which you will never have) will stay where I am, thank you.

Ha, ha ha ha ha,

The first to starve? You just elected a 78 year to be president. So what happens when China takes over Taiwan in Jan? Japan is next to go. Joe will be trying to get reparations going instead of caring about the next world war. Do you think Joe Biden has ever heard of LLNL or LANL, or even the DOD?

If you are sending your kid to college better make sure the lean Mandarin so they can speak to their colonial masters. Joe is going to have hard time finding the bathroom once WW3 starts. Joe will just surrender. Hey let us hope China appreciates hard workers and anyone with technical skills so some of us NNSA workers will still be around. As for the rest with no skills,...well you know what happens to them, they same thing that always happens to them.

God I hope I am wrong, but if I was China I would go for broke come Jan 2021. Maybe I am wrong maybe they already did go for broke and it is already over, perhaps that is better.

No, your money was not earned but stolen, as was most of the wealth of the nation. What about the millions of people who also grew up poor but never had your privilege that is is their money. They deserve the money as much as you do. The plans is for you to give that money back and once the revolution starts (revolution and nothing less), the money that was earned by the people given back to the people.

There’s some pretty heavy trolling going on here. The poster is perfectly illustrating the constant hyperbole of the left.
