I saw this video the other day, it claims to have a reason that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. The claim is that instead of using them as a deterrent, they may wish to wage nuclear war at some point in the future, as part of a plan to hasten the apocalypse, and that as they are convinced of the merits of this plan, they will not be willing to abandon it
I hope he is able to actually realize his stated goals instead of it turning into another failed DOGE effort. As it stands now, LANL has only become far more inefficient, not more productive. Senior management has made some noise about greater productivity, but they are at a complete loss regarding how to do so. We are talking career managers that have only ever known stockpile stewardship and the quest to accomplish as little as humanly possible in the name of never accepting a risk, no matter how insignificant.
"As it stands now, LANL has only become far more inefficient"
It seems like LANL has gone into overdrive in terms of inefficiency. I am not sure what has happened, but I hear this is not just LANL but all of the DOE to a lesser extent. On idea is that people freaked because of DOGE and figured they need to just expand the bureaucracy to overdrive to maximize the chance of surviving. I have to say that with over 30 years of experience I have never seen such extreme inefficiency at LANL as I have seen in the last year and half. I have no idea what happened but it seems systemic now in that every single thing is not working, facilities, training, travel, hiring , procurement, contracts, parking, roads, IT, operations, infrastructure and so on. It is all just falling apart or grinding to halt. I have never seen anything like it. It dominates every conversation now so I know it is now widespread.

We survived Hazel O'Leary and Bill Richardson. We will get through this one as well.
I am guessing you are not aware of how presidential appointment work.

It feels like home. The DOE has been an open farce for decades.
