Totally stupid way to stroke some numb-nut at DOE HQ's ego.
Changing the domain name on all LLNL computers will take a massive effort in time, manpower, and money we don't have. It would have to be coordinated to occur at the same time, taking at least a half-day downtime. And then there are applications - some tools will have to be recoded.

Comical! This is one of those "if you don't laugh you'll cry" kind of incidents. I just can't see it really happening - it's too stupid even for DOE!
Some idiot over at DOE has been watching way too much Donny Deutsch on cable TV.
Branding! Yeah, that'll save the DOE's poor image.
