Same old blue states voting for the what the newspaper tell them to vote for. Sheep !!! Thank God the rest of the states stand for what a real American is. I hope McCain sends Obama packing back to his turf. The most unfortunate thing about this election is every minority will be voting Obama since they're under the impression that once we have a minority in office he or she will cater to their every need. I only wish there was a site that kept track of what ethnic group voted for what candidate. In California they're seeking the black and Hispanic vote since ~50% of Ca is Hispanics..

My homepage is now this URL

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it. - Agent K.

I don't see any good coming of this year's election. Obama wins and Nancy Pelosi will effectively be running the country. McCain wins and you have another stalemate situation.

In all likelihood this country won't survive another 10 years. Game over.

I'd much rather have a stalemate that Barrack Hussein Obama with zip for experience running the show and I surely don't want someone who wants to sent troops into Africa to stop the genocide. So much for the savior that was going to get us out of the war. That was put to us clearly at the last debate. Not going to happen.

Tax Policy Center - Urban Institute and Brookings Institution

"Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next ten years, according to a newly updated analysis by the non-partisan Tax Policy Center [TPC]. Compared to current law, TPC estimates the Obama plan would cut taxes by $2.9 trillion from 2009-2018. McCain would reduce taxes by nearly $4.2 trillion. Obama would give larger tax cuts to low- and moderate-income households and pay some of the cost by raising taxes on high-income taxpayers. In contrast, McCain would cut taxes across the board and give the biggest cuts to the highest-income households."

There is no sense in voting any other party other than the two, democrat or republican. They are the only two parties that'll ever be in the congress, senate or whitehouse. So with that said I'm going to vote for the lesser of the two evils and for the most experience leader. It won't be the the one who's wet behind the ears and a sweet talker, Obama. Talk is cheap and he's up to his eyeballs in unrealistic promises. None of what he wants to do can be done without money and as a nation and a tax payer, we have none. In these times we want someone who understands the ropes of Washington, DC. Again not Obama. Let's face it, more of the same is better than Obama's desire to stop travesties in Africa, Iran, Afghanistan or Pakistan. I'm not for sending troops anywhere. That what we have smart bombs and the MOAB for. We need a leader with military experience that'll use them when needed. Going to star bucks to talk about an issue over a latee is not the answer now and it will not be the anser later.

Smart bombs are myth...yeah they are better than what we used 10-20 years ago but they are not as accurate as the press/corporations would have you believe.

Military experience has never been a good predictor of how well a US president will lead. In fact its a mixed bag for the US...You never know!

Both candidates have pluses and minuses so go vote for your choice (if you need help see the web pages mentioned above) and stop being a coward by posting political drivel anonymously.

If you have something to say about the lab and its association lets hear it!

October 10, 2008 5:01 PM,

We already have troops in Africa, Iran (special ops), Afghanistan or Pakistan (special ops and advisors).

The US Military is basically the only country with world wide logistics and transportation capabilities, as well as air force (naval) capability to actually put ordnance on the ground in distant trouble spots. If NATO or other countries wanted to send their forces to say Africa to stop the genocide, the US is the only country with the military sea/airlift and support capability to move large numbers of foreign troops to that area. It doesn't mean that our combat troops would be going to fight. A bunch of AK-47 toting thugs hacking to death unarmed women and babies are no match for carrier based F/A-18s or a company of French Commandos ferried by US Navy helicopters into to their village.

Found an interesting non-partisan website comparing the two...

The best thing that could happen to this country is to get rid of the electoral vote and base the winner of all elections on the popular vote. Then we need to abolish the IRS and all write-offs and go to a 10% flat tax. I'm tired of supporting the no-loads this country is full of.

I don't care what they are doing in Africa. That's their problem. Our troops need to withdraw from all countries and let those clowns do what ever they want to do to their people. Not my problem and I surely would never send in a single branch of the service to take care of the issue. Now, if you want to go, "for the cause", feel free. As far as I,m concerned, we are not the police of the world and should not be. Now if they come over here and pull som BS then it's time to repeat Japan all over again maybe a few times. Just make sure you have selected the coorect target. McCain 2009

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
