LLNS is unfair

A letter to the editor regarding LLNL retiree benefit changes has been published in the Nov. 6 issue of The Independent Newspaper, on page 5.

This policy change is such a blatant and obvious example of a LLNS management system that has lost it's moral and ethical compass , that further letters to newspapers or congress people could re-open the whole privatization issue at LLNL and LANL. Now is your chance to make a difference.

I wish you all the luck in the world. The best we can hope for is that Obama passes nation health care while he in for the next eight years. If not most will have to work until the are 65 and get on medicare which is basically socialized medicine anyway. If you haven't figure this all out for yourself I'll enlighten you. part of the reason to get you off the UC pension plan and onto a 401K was to assure you have to work until you are 65 in hopes you'll never get to collect SS or Medicare therefore leave it behind for all of those who never paid in or are immigrants from foreign countries to assure a one party government. You need to look and understand the big picture people. It's not about YOU, it's all about them and their sheep. So just hope in the next eight years they haven't figured out that euthanasia of anyone over 75 will save money too. After all that's what really important isn't it

can still have Kaiser for one year. During that period Kaiser and the new health insurance admin. will work to come up with a solution which will allow current kaiser members to continue with their current coverage with changes (insured will have to pay for some portion of coverage beyond medicare benefit). With the money that these folks get from the health care admin. they will be able to continue Kaiser with very little financial impact. That is a far cry from claiming everyone looses group health care benefits.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
