Well, either there was a newer division called 'beams' with 192 people in it, or something actaully went right at the lab.
Urgent news breaking on the newswires - EM's car actually started this morning.
Were the 192 beams fired at full power or was it just a low power test?

Unkown but I would assume a low power test since there is nothing to shoot at.
Low of Course. Cant get high power untill we get everyone out of Diag. Area and he shield doors are all in place.
NIF is the only project that was declared successful before it was.
Its success will depend on the support of many nations.
In about 5 years (that is how long our congress gets around to deciding), and without strong support, NIF will terminate and so will LLNL. RIP LLNL 1952-2015.
Shield doors ? I'm not a scientist, would you please explain what the danger is? Is this something the citizens of Livermore should be concerned about? Will this emit radiation like a hospital x-ray, or are we talking more like a nuclear reactor?
NIF success won't be proven until they fire a full up shot at that 1mm ball with the good stuff in it and get results the world can believe. Until then it's all a big wet dream, smoke and mirrors and BS.

Well, yeah. When they start shooting real targets that target bay is going to get hot as hell. But, you have been living with the plutonium and tritium facilities for years so why the big hub-bub now? It will be just as safe or unsafe as those facilities have been over the years.
