Any one else notice the different uniformed security officers at the LLNL gates. I think they are on loan from other sites.

They're Wakenhut personnel from Nevada undergoing training in Livermore procedures.

I noticed them because they looked impressive--clean, pressed uniforms with patches and wearing equipment. Contrast that with those who look as if they just crawled out of bed to check your badge.

I've heard that many of the newer and younger LLNS security officers have quite to take other jobs before they are laid off next year. The Lab supposedly told the officers and their union that half of the force will be let go when removal of nuclear material from LLNL is completed in 2012.

Why would our guards guit? Besides the huge money they now make due to overtime, I hear they will get a $50K bonus for staying amd have a guaranteed job until 2014, even though we won't need tnem once the SNM is gone. Besides, where would they go?

Not guards, Security Police Officers with arreest authority. The truth is, these Officers will be thrown out like the thousands of other employees a few years ago. Thanks TRI VALLEY CARES! LIARS! Try to be a little respectful of those who run towards trouble when you are running away and begging for help! If you feel their appearance is disturbing, stop by the station and make a formal complaint. When commenting on other people you should ask yourself what they might think of you.

Remember, when bullets are flying they will be running to the fight, and everyone else will be running like a bunch of screaming little girls. The population doen't realize their true professioalism and talents. They have to put up with the lab employees complaints. Give them some credit they have a tough job to do.

So, if our PSOs changed from black to the new DOE standard uniforms, why are the NTS/Wakenhut personnel wearing something different? Aren't all DOE complexes wearing the new standard DOE uniforms?

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

I just received my annual TCP-1 letter from LLNS and a summary of the LLNS Pension Plan. Looked in pretty good shape in 2013. About 35% overfunded (funding target attainment percentage = 134.92%). This was a decrease from 2012 where it was 51% overfunded (funding target attainment percentage = 151.59%). They did note that the 2012 change in the law on how liabilities are calculated using interest rates improved the plan's position. Without the change the funding target attainment percentages would have been 118% (2012) and 105% (2013). 2013 assets = $2,057,866,902 2013 liabilities = $1,525,162,784 vs 2012 assets = $1,844,924,947 2012 liabilities = $1,217,043,150 It was also noted that a slightly different calculation method ("fair market value") designed to show a clearer picture of the plan' status as December 31, 2013 had; Assets = $2,403,098,433 Liabilities = $2,068,984,256 Funding ratio = 116.15% Its a closed plan with 3,781 participants.
