To extend or not to extend

To extend, or not to extend? The NNSA grades for LLNL and LANL are due by the end of the month, along with the local federal office recommendation for contract extension of another year. Last year, LANL was not recommended for extension, but the decision was overturned by Neile Miller at NNSA. New leadership is in place at NNSA this year and this first decision will be closely watched. LANL could find the going hard in light of the months long work stand down at TA 55 for crit safety. The grade this year might provide insight as to how NNSA values the Pu work.

The evaluation process for this year is so broken that any rating can probably be justified. The real problem, however, is that those who do the rating are totally incompetent and don't have a clue as to how the contractors are really performing.

The two main proponents of this year's evaluation process (the former acting NA-1 and NA-2)have left Dodge, leaving the mess to new acting leaders. It's time for all of NNSA to be gone.

With no extension of the labs LLC contracts, will our pension be handed over to the next LLC contractor: "Larry's Low-Cost Auto Shop & Lab Management LLC"?

Wow! It did not take long for someone to turn the discussion away from what is best for the country and the long term interest of the Lab toward what is best for the immediate term benefit of the individual employee. Would it be asking too much for NNSA leadership to make the determination on what was best for the country?

Do not extend.

Don't forget that LLNS also did not initially qualify for an extension. They missed the mark by only 2% (78 v. 80), but nontheless required Miller to weigh in. Is there any doubt about why she didn't stay around to deal with the issues this year?

Where the hell have you been. It's never been about what's right for the country since the take-over by Rechtel of LANL and LLNL. It's always been about benefits and pension. There is nothing more important than these two things when they're in the hands of a seek and destroy for profit hatchet man corporation and there never will be.

Enough of the "Rechtel" garbage; please get a new gig, this one is really annoying. You obviously have nothing intelligent to contribute to this blog, so just go away and stew in your own juices - it is all you deserve if you cannot offer a single new or useful thought.

Could you PLEASE say why the Rechtel thing is garbage and why it is annoying? Some of us may find that it is an intelligent and useful contribution. Just because you do not like something does not mean you have the right to tell the whole world you don't like it. Why are you so special and smart? Besides saying stuff annoys you have you ever contributed one thing that anyone else would say in intelligent or insightful?
