Another gift that just keeps on giving

An example of just another gift that just keeps on giving, and giving, and gives some more. http://www.pogo.org/blog/2013/11/20131106-new-documents-show-former-rep-ran-through-revolving-door.html

Look, both she and the Labs know the rules. Two words for both her and those at each Lab that did this. JAIL TIME.

No one is accountable anywhere, anymore. Paying the money back to the tax payers (out of fee, one hopes) is not a way out for either party.

Neither SNL or LANL has been forthcoming with any of the materials that Heather Wilson supposedly produced for her fee. It makes you wonder if the political payola she received resulted in any true deliverables at all. It's a very disgraceful story for both Wilson and the labs.

You do understand that it's none of your goddamn business?

Do YOU understand that the taxpayers won't put up with you crooked pols anymore?

This whole story is indeed quite disgraceful for both SNL and LANL
Another gift that keeps on giving (also with any true deliverables):

http://www.sandia.gov/LabNews/100730.html

The Sandia article says: " Tim Shepodd (8223) liked the moniker and agreed to call it the “chili cookoff.” But there was no chili involved, and the only “cooking” had to do with the kind of chemicals not usually found on Sandia grounds. "

Ha Ha. Unless they represent your district and bring home the bacon, then they're ok. I bet YOUR "pol" isn't crooked, right?

Someone call 9:04 and 8:05 a waaaaaaaaaaaa-mbulance.

If the government chooses to pay a lab to do work, why should they say 'no'?
http://llnlthetruestory.blogspot.com/2013/10/old-news-but-funny.html

"There was a competition to submit a SNL program for an award nomination that year. Tim Shepodd stepped over several staff members' nominations and overruled their submissions to submit his "chili cook-off" project for the award.

A lot of staff employees in the department where the "chili cook-off" was carried out were always making fun of that experiment (and noted that they were stepped on because of Shepodd's decision to push his program - a clear conflict of interest!).

When it was submitted for an award competition and didn't win anything, everyone was rolling on the floor laughing at the manager of that experiment!"

Dude you made your point about the ridicule-worthiness of a project. But it sounds more like you have a serious beef with Tim Sheppod or Sandia, and that this is the best you can come up with to hurt them. You can certainly find better dirt if you were better connected. Since you're not, you should seek some counseling to deal with whatever Tim and/ or Sandia did or didn't do to you. Loser.

yeah the really bizarro thing is not about that project, but about the one guy's obsession with Tim Sheppodd.
Yes, there is certainly better dirt about Sandia...and this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Tell us about the Tomas-Sandia connection. That's pretty F'ed up shite going on there.
Anonymous said…
The gossip regarding the Tomas connection doesn't have any meat to it. Throwing a dog a bone doesn't mean anything anyways.

Rumor has it that Tomas is working in the Sandia outer space alien laboratory.

Really? I heard that it was at LANL.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
