Any nominations for LLNL "man of the year"?

Any nominations for LLNL "man of the year"?

I nominate that worthless astronaut who somehow ending up as the AD of NIF, even with no background in ICF or anything.

That's HAL 9000 to you.

How about Ed Moses? He was still employed at the lab for most of the year and hell who else are you going to pick?

How about Parney who in the face of standing up to NNSA over employees, left for greener pastures

Come on, the LLNL man of the year is required to be a woman. See recent management appointments.

Parney gets the vote, with Bret coming in a close second.

I also vote for Parney. He refused to kiss NNSA's ring (or backside) and really thought LLNL should be treated by NNSA as a real GOCO/FFRDC. He came from the DOD world and had first hand knowledge based on MIT's running of the Air Force's FFRDC - Lincoln Lab, and Caltech running NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, and how an FFRDC relationship should work (and not how it's been perverted by NNSA).

He will be missed.

Man of the year would have to be a 500. Not much to speak of in the 100, 200 or 300s.

... more likely Macho Man of the Year. Have you seen how much those 500s can lift?

Me. Ms. Average in a average year.

Parney. No one left like him.

Yep, Parney. LANL could improve if they had someone like him as Director.

Parney - hands down....

Muhammad Tsunami wins for the high foot target, hands down.

How about Monya Lane? She single handedly ruined engineering by letting the divisions behave as they individually saw fit, and she still managed to keep her AD for engineering position until she decided to retire. Talk about a leadership train wreck and out of control diversity.

And all while having a smug smile in her profile picture.

Wait, she didn't have a PhD, so how could she have been a bust?
