What systematic steps are LANS employees taking now to have some input on the set of metrics used to evaluate and select candidates for the next contractor LLC to run Los Alamos National Laboratory for the next 10+ years?

OR

Will LANS employees elect to wait passively for a polished HR PowerPoint presentation to introduce the LANS successor and terms of the new LLC contract? 

LLNS employees "have a horse in this race" too.

LANL employees are very passive. They'll sit back and take whatever is dished out to them. History has proven this to be true time after time.

I agree 12:02. We are beyond passive, we've handed the Vaseline to LANS over and over again. We've taken it in every direction.

I can understand a good faith passive approach when LANL became LANS, but to sit around for round 2 is disturbing if it goes down that way. Amazing.

This is a very good question, how will round 2 go? Are they going to have another call, are they going allow the LANL managers to write the contract change rules like they did last time? The last time the LANL managers where key into writing the bid for LANS and that was a disaster since all they did they created multitudes of new division, huge pay increases for managers, and a huge useless bureaucracy.

Every single LANL manager that traveled to Bechtel HQ in San Francisco to help write the winning LANS bid has been extremely well rewarded since LANS took over the LANL contract. Terry Wallace (made a PAD), Alan Bishop (made a PAD) plus many, many other "made men".

Now that LANS will probably lose the contract will these LANS top executives be leaving, too?

Wallace, Bishop and McMillan's entire current management team should depart as a group. The the laboratory can start over with new top level leadership across the board.

The only way to save the labs will be to remove this scum of the earth. We have to get rid of the managers that where rewarded in the contract change.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
