UC not interested in Sandia?

It doesn't look like UC is making any play for the Sandia contract. Is this an acknowledgement by them that they are finished with the NWC? It would make sense that now is the time to throw in the towel, but this is a loss for LLNL which has had a good relationship with UC since it was started.

If you knew anything about the history on Sandia you'd know that it was directly spun off of Los Alamos Lab (it was known as Z Division), as UC didn't feel it had the expertise to manage an engineering lab. So why would UCOP want to get back into managing it.

Why would the UC want to remain involved with the NNSA labs? The whole system is a joke of its former self. This isn't 1950 either, the UC system doesn't support the NW mission anymore. There was exactly one opportunity to get the UC system involved, and that was at the beginning. Today, there is no reason why they would take on the bad PR and liability of being involved with NNSA.

Bechtel plans to run the entire NNSA on its own, who would you trust to run Sandia UNM...? Hell no. Bechtel is going to keep LLNL and LANL, so that just leaves Sandia. So who should run it.? Lockheed Martin has proven that cannot run Sandia, Bechtel can do it and do it good! Bechtel Uber Alles!!!. It is time for the management at LANL to position themselves to screw the United States and make big, and I do mean big money! Do not let your conscious or pride get in the way, f pride, screw the nation and your morals, money is too made and more than ever, if Bechtel gets to go FULL BECHTEL than more money can be made than you can imagine, all of the screw ups of Iraq, Boston and Africa will pale, totally pale in comparison to what Bechtel will do to the United States when it has total and complete control of the arsenal!... ha ha ha! You could not write a fictional dystopia future like this without being laughed at, but it is and will come true and no one can stop it, no one! This is how the Apocalypse was planned and how it will actually go down, so get the shoes that grip or be wiped out! Satan laughing spreads his wings. Evey empire has to die, just look at history, Rome lasted 1400 years, the United States 250 years, and America is no exception so sell your soul and enjoy that last generation of freedom and liberty.

Let's see how Bechtel does in competing for the environmental cleanup contract at Los Alamos before speculating about their participation in managing the rest of the lab. For those who have forgotten, that is the contract that was spun off from LANS as a result of poor performance by Bechtel managers.

Poor performance is a relative thing when you have powerful senators and congressmen at your disposal. Besides, if Bechtel doesn't win the contract this time, it will just be because of Moniz's Mexican--er, Portuguese heritage.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
