Rumor is the Battelle team is: Drum roll Battelle Honeywell BECHTEL
Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Wow, good sleuthing. I guess the idea would be to have Honeywell in charge of the pit part and Battelle the science part. Not sure what Bechtel would do other than claim they have previous experience. But teaming with Honeywell has to increase the odds to 30-50%. I have heard that Honeywell has had some issues with Sandia in that Sandia is not not like the Kansas City plant and it is not what they expected. Maybe Honeywell will get the entire the system. In any case big unknown is if they are going to have people already at the lab or entirely new people. If it was just Honeywell and Battelle I would expect that it would be new people but with Bechtel we could be getting some of the same people.
I am hearing that Bechtel is the lead on this, anyone else hear that?

No public bid - no team. We'll see.
Very surprised that Battelle (a non-profit) would get into bed with them, as opposed to UT or UC. A Bechtel-Battelle team would be seen as a "for-profit" and clearly subject to the GRT, so it would seen Battelle would get a lot less fee teaming with Bechtel vs another non-profit like UT or UC.
Its real alright and probably the team with the best chance of winnin.
Honeywell: Ops
Bechtel: Infrastructure
Battelle at the top of the ticket. The NNSA likes giving the whole production stream to one or two players (see Pantex, Y12, SRS model) so I think this has a good shot.
False, it is Battelle, Honeywell, Bechtel, about evenly split. The Battelle-UC thing fell apart when LANL FexExed some Pu. But be warned Bechtel wants blood from LANL for what they perceived to be slights from the science part of the lab. Bechtel does not forgive and does not forget and they desperately want at least a small piece of the lab to get back at the "clever" scientists who
thought they could wait out the industrial partners, this is what they believe or least what they need to believe because someone has to be blamed for why the contract failed and blaming scientists will always get you some traction.
"Honeywell would never bid with Bechtel on an NNSA competition."
So they will team and win (et. SRS in October of this year) with Bechtel on EM work but won't even bid on NNSA??? You make no sense.
"Bechtel does not forgive and does not forget and they desperately want at least a small piece of the lab to get back at the "clever" scientists who thought they could wait out the industrial partners"
Somewhat true on the first part but wrong LANL subgroup on the second part. Bechtel has no beef with the scientists. Hell, they probably couldn't name two. It is the UC management hanger ons that they want a second round at. With UC out, they will have a clear shot at "anyone who reports to the director/PADs". Expect more new managers and more than one Bechtel AD.
