Scooby cannot take the heat!

Well, Scooby shut off yet another blog thread where the posters were less than enthralled with his methods of running the blog. He claims to want candid input, but can't take the heat that follows, which obviously he feels he doesn't deserve. Why ask for candor if you are not willing to accept it if it is negative? Shouldn't negative feedback on the part of one's customers incentivize one to change how one does business?

There's one poster who keeps whining over and over again, and it's Mr. 8:15, probably the same person most responsible for forcing active moderation upon this forum. 8:15, I think your best course of action is to stop posting here, that will show Scooby.

I am not Scooby but what do you really want? To shut the down the blog, or to be allowed to spew some form of hatred? I suspect that you are the " I hate scientists and I hate LANL" guy. You have been posting on this blog and the old LANL blog for some time. Even on the old LANL blog your posts got thrown out on a regular basis for being racist, nuts or vile. The thing I don't get is why repeat yourself, you had your say, everyone knows you hate LANL and by now it is rather obvious why you hate LANL. You said it, we got your point, we may see your motives a bit differently but move on. You still have free speech hell you can just write it down on some piece of paper and stand by the road, or write letters to the Santa Fe newspapers, or whatever you do, nobody is going to arrest you, so your free speech is intact and safe. You just don't have the right to walk into someones home, scream you stuff and than get mad when the owner tells you to leave.

As with every post, all Scooby wanted was intellectual feedback and it turned into a cry baby session and insults being slung around. Scooby was right to close the topic because all that could be said, with merit, had been said.

Scooby wants to view the world with rose colored glasses. Some of the rest of us are ok with the unfiltered sunlight.

Three spot-on posts. My God, it's a record.

Scooby can do whatever the hell he wants with his blog. His blog, his URL, his labor to screen the vitriol that must come through on a regular basis.

And his responsibility to make the blog relevent and useful. Not necessarily placid and respectful. Why does his opinion on any given post matter? Serious question. Don't say it isn't his opinion, it's the rules. He makes the rules. And he alone decides whether or not a post violates them, and deletes it. Legislator, judge, and jury. Can you say tyranny? Sure, "Scooby can do whatever the hell he wants with his blog." Do we want someone who can do "whatever the hell he wants" to be in charge of anything?

Scooby, don't let these guys get to you. Apply the LANS/LLNS management philosophy used on workers and problems at the Labs, simply ignore them.

Scooby has done this several times before. He asks for feedback and then rejects any feedback that is negative. Why are we surprised he's doing it again?

I don't like to look directly in the sun.

Scooby hasn't officially closed comments here, but he keeps deleting them anyway.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
