Honestly wondering...

I am just honestly asking the question as I am not sure if what I am feeling is correct?

1) I am honestly cringing to open the Lab Intranet as what new Social Justice post will we see?

2) I remember one of the Stem Protest comments was a lady caught up in the moment going to "make" her underlings watch Social Justice videos? Did I get that correct?

3) Our Director only portrays one side of H1 visa pause as 13m Americans are out of work, I think he is a Globalist and again I am asking?
As I notice 2 things about Liberalism, they (like our Director) really, really believe that everyone agrees with them and two their Ideology comes before safety of us and our families (like releasing Illegal Felons without notifying ICE or pooping on SF streets or removing the Police, Ideology over safety)?

4) I have never met WCI head and I am sure she is a good sincere person, but I did not care for her emails on this subject?

5) I honestly wonder how Lisa Haggerty would feel about this push?

6) It is distracting me, similar how the NFL kneelers "maybe" distract from their teammates and actually playing the game?

Any thoughts, feelings?

Sincerely.

"just honestly asking the question as I am not sure if what I am feeling is correct?"

Perhaps you are feeling uncomfortable because you see your unearned power slipping. Perhaps you are feeling this way because you coming to terms with your unconscious bias. Perhaps you are realizing you are not a good person. Perhaps you don't like losing all your friends who will no longer speak to you out of principle. So it is are you feeling correct but why are feeling this way at all.

why are feeling this way at all.

Because I feel that Utopian Liberalism will destroy America right in front of our eyes.

Is there Systemic Racism, maybe but I am not 100% sure.
Is there Systemic Anti-Americanism, I am absolutely sure.

That is the problem. This is not even up for debate anymore.

"Because I feel that Utopian Liberalism will destroy America right in front of our eyes."

It is not about destroying American it is about time for a major transformation from a racist, brutal past that stole land, killed innocent people, had slavery and exploited millions all in the name of capitalism, marginalized women. Sure you may not be happy losing unearned privilege where you will have to actually compete on a level playing field but for millions and millions it will lead to better and more equitable lives. This is on top of how much damage America has done to the rest of the world.

What we are seeing is the last gasp of the old guard trying to hold on to power. That is why you feel this way.

I've read the original post several times and it appears to be a stream of consciousness or a word salad meeting a Cuisinart. Are the feelings real? If you feel them, they are real. Whether or not they are based on reality is a question that will never receive a satisfactory answer, especially in this time of tribal worship.

Systemic ignorance is being mistaken for the flawed theory of systemic racism. When the boundary conditions are feelings and circular logic, then absurdity idiocy reigns.

Are you denying that systemic racism exists? Wow, just wow, talk about ignorance.

Welcome to the new world order where doublespeak, victimhood, and entitlement reign.

Since many of the "systems" we have are populated and actually controlled and run by people of color, I guess you think all people, regardless of race, are racist. I agree with that! I also can't help but notice that no one is decrying the African nations run by black people who still practice slavery against other black people. Funny old world...

Try reading the black part. Systemic racism one oppression theory of many, supported only by itself, hence the circular logic and self reinforcing ideals. It will not help the victim. Their only hope is to get on with living with the rest of the citizens, and shake off the unfortunates who wish time and space to halt for their hurt feelings.

the post is simply asking is the Lab going Liberal like Google, FB, Pintarest? Is upper management becoming SJW? How might DOE feel about this and where is Parney when we need him?

It is interesting but I suspect the DOE labs are fairly safe from this. For example you don't see truck drivers, farmers, construction workers, intel, HP, IBM, or Wall Street companies going gaga of this SJW stuff. It is really only academics, politics or entertainment. Google, FB for example would fall into entertainment. You have to be careful when you say big tech since it is only the entertainment portion of big tech that is going overboard. Remember things are not as crazy as you think. I have noticed every time there is is the open letter of support SJW stuff like the recent "stop STEM", that you can sign that if look at the percent of people that do sign it at any particular institution it is typically 5-10%. This true even at universities. Sure it seems like alot since there are so many but the silent majority is obviously out there. For example there was some particle physics for justice thing back on Jun 10th. If you know how many people are in the field and how many signed the letter it was actually pretty small. For example at best 10 people from LANL or LLNL signed it yet the potential numbers would have been 150 or more and I know for a fact that they where all made aware of the letter. If I look at the universities I work with again the numbers are on the same level. There is lost of noise in the system so don't take anything seriously. So no DOE it not going crazy SJW anytime soon and most of STEM is not most of industry is not so take it easy. By the way some social justice causes have a point and it fairly rational but that is not the stuff that will make the news.

In other words, squeaky wheel gets the grease.

where is Parney when we need him?

Parney was a great Director. Face it the current Director is going to push his beliefs on us. Just ignore him and his long winded emails and lectures on this subject as he sadly making himself irrelevant.

Is there Systemic Anti-Americanism [?]

Outside the US, sure. If you’re making reference to domestic attitudes/activity, you’d have to define or give examples and each person can weigh-in.

One person’s anti-Americanism can be another’s “American as apple pie.”

Have a good 4th!

I find it interesting that systemic racism appears to predominately operate in cities run by minorities or democrats. The evidence is seen in the location of the riots and protests. Seems to be a hypothesis with a flawed foundation. Or maybe, democrats aren't who they say they are.

7/03/2020 8:02 PM"

Or it could be you are trying to make every kind of excuse possible to avoid having to come to deal with your own participation in systemic racism? That is the thing about systemic racism if you deny it, it only means you are suffering from fragility and are part of the problem. If you accepted than you are making your first step to stopping it either way it is true.

I like to think I am a reasonable person who wants everyone to succeed and be happy. I am also a facts and numbers guy and I simply cannot follow the logic of much of this. Could someone please provide me with actual numbers that point to the existence systemic racism? I cannot find any existing law, a policy that supports this. If I look at the FBI crime numbers and read papers on police interactions I cannot find any data to back the narrative that BLM is purporting that police are harder on certain groups in terms of violence or even sentencing or that interracial violence is more prevalent one group. In fact the data actually shows the opposite. I don't know what more to say, I simply look at numbers, polices and laws. I am open to discussion or debate. If one claims there is systemic racism you have to give direct evidence for this and I have not seen such evidence. Individual cases are only anecdotal evidence. Poster 8:02 PM is right about one thing your hypothesis has to be correct in the first place. I simply cannot shut my mind off.

Is this thread off topic to the labs? Possibility as at the rate we are going domestic threats both the far left and far right could be increasing which means that sooner or later the national security labs could get involved. Maybe it it will be better software to track people in crowds, less lethal ways to apprehend people or control crowds, modeling of social movements, modeling society itself, or how protests could spread a virus and so on. So yes the labs may be involved in current unrest one way or another.
