Strike approved, but...

Members of the skilled trades union (UPTE) at LLNL voted to strike and the strike was approved. The union has been in negotiations with the lab for over two years and it hasn't gone anywhere.

Please provide the details that triggered a strike approval.

If you wish any support, details are of value to the rest of us non-union LLNS employees.

After not receiving a pay increase sine 1/2019, the lab has offered a 7% increase over three years. Year one would be %3 and 2% for the following two years. Union members do not get to participate when bonuses are handed out. Union members must use vacation time when being sent home for fires, smoke, etc. while the rest of the employees receive pay. The lab is beginning to force mandatory on-call for certain crafts. The lab is trying to negotiate the right for union members to bargin.

I assume the union members pay monthly dues. Who is paying for the LLNS negotiation legal fees? Is LLNS using internal attorneys or is LLNS buying outside legal help on the NNSA's dime?
