Biden says US will defend Taiwan if China attacks
His comments are an apparent departure from the long-held US policy of "strategic ambiguity".

Would we use nukes? There is no possible way that the US could stop China from taking Taiwan.

We don't need nukes. We have Rachael Levine, the first Trans-Admiral. This will have China shaking in the boots.

We would never, ever defend Taiwan. We are more likely to offer them help in invading as evidenced my Gen. Miley’s support given when Trump was president. We educate 500,000 Chinese students and allow them to steal our trade secrets and IP a for a reason. We have supported China for decades with favorable trade, allowing their economy to grow and rival ours. Also, we funded the Wuhan lab’s coronavirus research through NIH and DTRA.

US ain't gonna nuke squat to stop China from taking Taiwan. In fact, US ain't gonna do squat either. We don't even know how to lose a war anymore... witness Afghanistan.

Scooby are you going to allow willful misinformation on this blog? You have freedom in speech as long it does not harm others. This nonsense could harm others. Fuaci did not personally fund coronavirus research at Wuhan. This is medical disinformation. Saying we allow the Chinese to
steal trade secretes is an anti-Asian dog whistle. There has been a uptick in violence against Asians driven by this type of talk. The 4:49 PM post is to beyond disgusting. These people need to be called out for what they are.

You are calling them out. That os free speech. If I do, it will be called "censorship ".

Of course Fauci did not personally fund the research at the Wuhan lab. Any card carrying bureaucrat would spend other people's money to do anything.

The idea that something like free speech should be used to hurt people is outdated concept, just allowing these people to speak is giving them a platform. There are certain things that should not be allowed to be said. I am of sick people using the idea of "free speech" to create conditions for potential violence and harm. We as a nation need to confront the idea of putting a stop to clear misinformation and
hate speech. If we need to amend the Constitution than so be it it is time to move on from the past, need form a more perfect union.

As for Tawian, we have more important things in our nation to address before we get involved in other nations business.

I hope your knowledge of how to influence people is as meager as your appreciation for the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and freedom in general. You don't get to tell me what I can say. You can try if you want...

9:48 at such time as the Constitution is amended, your wish will be granted. See how that works?

I'm sure that 10/25/2021 9:48 AM would happily provide Scooby with a set of rules for what should or should not be published in order to prevent "potential violence and harm"

What do you suggest?

As an example of how much we support China, look at Elaine Chao. She was appointed secretary of transportation even though she had numerous conflicts of interest as her family shipping business was essentially a Chinese front. She tried numerous times to benefit China and her family business in her cabinet level position. This was all brought up in an ethics probe which was of course dismissed. Oh yes, she tried to use the anti-AAPI hate movement to defect criticism of her corruption.

Scooby does this look like anti-Asian hate to you, if so than why do you allow it.

Looks like a serious, if slightly bonkers, question to me.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
