Trump put out a press release Tuesday night saying that Musk will co-lead the 'Manhattan Project of our time' with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
'This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!' Musk said in a statement.

Bad new for the NNSA which is way behind schedule for the pit manufacture with huge cost overruns.
Maybe the 5 year contract extension to manage LLNL will get reexamined in favor of a more cost effective non-profit model.
Suppose instead we could focus on dominance in outer space, and then bombard our enemies with asteroids for example. This could be very effective, of course, Tunguska was evidently equivalent to a large thermonuclear weapon in terms of the energy released. Of course, bombarding the earth with asteroids would also provide abundant deposits of valuable minerals, meaning the program would pay a tremendous peace dividend, and would throw up dust and debris that would help mitigate global warming. Eventually nuclear weapons could be completely phased out, saving trillions of dollars! There would be in general no concern about environmental issues of course, since asteroid impacts are naturally occurring from time to time, so we would not be changing the natural order of things.
If your job title is something along the lines of Grand Poo-Bah of DEI, you may want to polish up the resume although private companies may be ahead of the government for curtailing such positions.
We will see of the DOGE Czars can outlast the WEBE - We Be before you came, We Be here after you leave.
No question the Lab’s workforce could be cut in half with a dramatic increase in efficiency. You could probably cut Livermore 75%. I sincerely hope that they succeed, it is high time government bureaucrats got the heave ho.
