Tuesday is the last day to sign up for VSSOP
Tuesday, Feb. 26, is the last day for employees who are eligible to take the Voluntary Self-Selection Option Program (VSSOP) to sign up.
The VSSOP is a self-select option — participation is entirely voluntary. It allows career indefinite employees to request consideration for separation with severance payment. Accepted employees will receive severance payment of one week’s pay for each year of continuous full-time equivalent service, up to a maximum of 26 weeks. VSSOP-eligible employees' applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
So how many people signed up.

It's been a nice ride for 23+ years. Thanks for the wonderful memories, LLNL, but it's time for me to move on. It's a couple years sooner than ideal, but life never quite turns out as ya planned, ya know?
I wish all of you good luck and fortune. I truly hope TCP2 stays afloat, that those who deserve a job can keep theirs during the upcoming turmoil, and that LLNL can once again hold her head high and perhaps regain some of her former glory.
So long, everyone.
Adios!
I feel bad for the people who are too young or have too few years of service to retire. I feel even worse for those who may face layoffs if the VSSOP doesn’t have sufficient signups to correct the budget shortfall.
I just don't understand the people who are staying. Why? Either too young to retire or too old to change careers?
You hit the nail on the head!
in other words: LLNS got some us by the
huevos!
Hint. Hey George, wake up. Try a 3+3 without exemptions. You'll get the reluctant 500.
And you'll do just fine.
The post-1992 lab was stronger than the pre-1992 lab. For every treasured greybeard you lose, you can hire a golden boy and golden girl that will pee on the grave of the greybeard, and bow to Ayatollah Obama.
Hell, offer it to yourself and get out of here. You deserve a rest. It ain't exactly WWII.
You think George et.al. are pretty stupid, apparently. Get off the 3+3 kick. It will never happen, get it, NEVER! Geez...Where have you been? It isn't a secret that even when we were manged by UC they made it abundantly clear they would never offer a vsip that had age or years of service as an incentive.
Your ranting about "3+3" is getting really old. Move on.
I am staying because I like it hard and fast.
The VSSOP sign-up will end tonight, 2/26. People still have 7 days from their sign-up to back out, so the final numbers may not be exact until next week. The final number will be well known.
Unless something happens at the last minute, the number will be about 200, way short of the 750 goal. If LANL could get only 450 and it offered a better incentive, why would anyone expect more than 200? Every day that people are not released increases the budget problem and ultimately will result in more layoffs.
You got it, so here we come ISP. 550 more to go plus maybe the original 300FTE on that "special" list of unwanted dead weight option is about to be executed.
