Have You Had a Chance to Look at the LLNL Sponsered Employee Blog?

Of course your post never got posted. It's moderated and they only want employees to post happy thoughts about LLNS on the site.

where is the blog?

Why is this website so negative? It's understood that everything isn't at its best at the Laboratory but .. I LOVE where I work, the people are great, and although everything isn't perfect it sure beats the alternative. Thinking positively is a huge motivator .. think about it>

where is the blog?
I was interested to see this topic came up in this forum. I am the LLNL Work-Life Blog administrator. You can get to this blog from the internal MyLLNL portal, Employee Center tab. So far we have had a lot of participation from employees using the comments feature. Please feel free to read and share your own comments and thoughts. We really do want to hear how employees feel about their work-life resources at the Lab. We also have a guest author program. Although the comments are moderated, I have posted every one that has been submitted to me since we went live last Wednesday. I will post any comments negative or positive as long as it is in context with the topic, and not hateful or offensive. Similar to the rules in this forum here. Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions, and contact me if your comment does not appear the work day of submission. You can find my contact info on the FAQ tab of the Work-Life blog.

I visited it.
It does not solve the fundamental problems we have!

It may not solve the problems but if it gets the right people to listen and act it'll be worth it.

Are you really that naive? Too much in-breeding at LLNL has left an employee population that is extremely easy to dupe!

I saw the blog and don't see any topics that have to do with our work life. Television shows? What does that have to do with our work life? How about some candid discussions about why the employees are so unhappy? You don't have to post the mindless insults, but what about real useful suggestions that managers won't consider because it doesn't help them? Management puts in place policies that improve the lot of managers. They like it that way. And the managers may delude themselves if they wish, but that is why so many people are quiting. Just because you make a "happy" blog, that doesn't change what is going on and how people feel about their job. And if you don't take the suggestions anonymously, then you will get none. Retribution from managers is a well known at the lab.

This blog is unnecessary and not the answer to our problems. The best organizations in which I have worked had none of this nonsense. Those organizations had a mission, were managed by competent individuals who took care of their people, and all effort was focused on completing that mission.

The most successful years of LLNL were prior to ~1990. Anything that has been added since then is of questionable need and value.

No I am not. I wrote _IF_. It's a big if. I understand that. I also don't expect it to happen. But _IF_ they heard and acted accordingly wouldn't that be a good thing?

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
