A budget deal has been reached!

A budget deal has been reached! Is this bad news for the labs? Is the NNSA going to get the sequester cuts? http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/11/us/politics/party-leaders-indicate-deal-is-reached-on-budget.html?_r=0

It should be great news for the labs. The money for different "agencies" (i.e., the various departments of government on the discretionary side) would see a nice ~5% increase for this year if this deal passes.

However, I doubt it will pass through the Congress unless conservatives see more cutbacks. In fact, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) in the Senate is known to be a big fan of the automatic cuts brought about by sequestration.

Don't worry friends, the Lab will get enough Do-Rae-Me for business to continue as normal. What I'm hoping is that our CIP comes through unscathed!

What a shame they did not cut the labs by 10% a year for the next decade. I was hoping someone on capitol hill has some balls but what should one expect. Regardless of what is reported here I did hear first hand the budget at LLNL is not all that good and layoffs will continue behind the scenes.

Deal now looks like it will die in the Senate.

Oh, well. Back to the sequestration cuts.

" Timothy Shepodd (8223) liked the moniker and agreed to call it the “chili cookoff.” But there was no chili involved, and the only “cooking” had to do with the kind of chemicals not usually found on Sandia grounds. "

"These people are some of the dumbest imbeciles I know and then sum"

"I laughs now"

and my personal favorite: "chickens come home to pasture"?

Now I know why everyone wants to keep POS around, for comical entertainment!

Maybe we could do a "Top Ten Count Down" of all his imbecile statements once a week.

Like in the Dirty Harry way? Harry was a real man. Dirty Harry did not have a Ph.d. I venture to guess that Clint Eastwood does not have a Ph.d either even though he is a bit left to my taste if you know what I am saying.

Did you ever think POS might have a point? Did you every think that POS is just saying the obvious that we all know to be true? Maybe POS did get his money from the government but like the military he deserved it for serving his country and not earning by just thinking about how great he was because he was soo smart. Did you ever thing POS might be smarter than all the educated typs? Did you ever think POS could have been a great manager or professor or leader except that people with education laughed at him? Did you ever think that freedom of religion might be wrong? Think about that and realize what are the odds of POS being a bitter nutcase vs a unrecognized genius screwed by the left. Open you mind people the possibilities are endless and the truth is not just out there but is is also real.

Did you ever think about how bitter a person would have to be to read this blog regularly, and comment regularly, after retiring with a lot of money? Did you ever think that you must not be eating the right thing, because 50 million flies can't be wrong and they're eating something else? Did you ever think that you'd be entertained by reading this much BS from this blog?

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
