So Anita Gursihani (sp??) is coming back to LLNL? Finally the end of the Conner/Walls/Etc. regime... Good riddance!! Maybe we will finally right the ship after 8 long years of incompetence!! The tax payers should sue for fraud! (aka Conner) Maritinez has seen the light. Thank you!!!
Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Anita Gursahani Selected as
Deputy Principal Associate Director
Operations & Business Principal Directorate
I am pleased to announce the selection of Anita Gursahani as the Deputy Principal Associate Director within the Operations & Business (O&B) Principal Directorate.
Anita brings over 25 years of experience directly related to line management, oversight, and corporate governance of operations and business activities at the UC-affiliated national laboratories-Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Anita is well known and respected throughout the laboratories and the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. During her previous tenure at LLNL, she effectively served in key senior leadership roles that included Deputy Associate Director for Facilities & Infrastructure, Acting Department Head for Plant Engineering, Deputy Department Head for Plant Engineering and Division Leader for the Facilities Management & Maintenance Division prior to leaving in 2008. At LBNL, Anita was the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and is currently at the University of California Office of the President, as the Assistant Vice President for Laboratory Operations. In these roles, she frequently interfaces with the Board of Governors (BOG), DOE/NNSA, sponsoring organizations, and senior management team members at LLNL.
In her new assignment, Anita will serve as a senior advisor and member of the O&B executive leadership team, and will represent the Principal Associate Director for O&B across a broad spectrum of operational areas comprised of business management, emergency preparedness, environmental restoration, human resources, infrastructure and facility management, maintenance management, nuclear operations, procurement, project controls, project management, property management, sustainable energy management, technical information and lead interactions with ES&H and Security. She will direct senior managers, both operational and technical, across the PD, in collaboration with other laboratory programs, and the institution to formulate a long-term business vision and strategy for O&B. Anita will collaborate with stakeholders on these issues and initiatives to develop a plan to implement this strategy. In addition, Anita will share in management of operational matters and represent the Laboratory externally to constituents such as the DOE, NNSA, Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB), peer organizations and other laboratories in the DOE complex, as well as private industry.
Anita holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University and a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College. Anita’s scheduled start date is February 23, 2015. Please join me in welcoming Anita back to the Laboratory as she takes on this important role.
Mark W. Martinez
Principal Associate Director
Operations & Business

Great news IMHO!
Also hearing rumors that Martinez is about to announce a major restructuring of the O&B organization. Not sure what of the following is true, but specifically heard;
- Conner's Facilities & Infrastructure organization will be broken up and report to Anita.
- ES&H and Security/Protective Force will be moved from the Deputy Director's Office to O&B and report to Martinez. Dep Dir Gioconda may also be retiring soon.
What a stupendously DUMB idea it was for LLNS to bring URS to LLNL to run F&I. No value-added whatsoever, for nearly eight years.
The good news is things can only get better with LLNL-incumbents Martinez, Gursahani, Bailey and Sueksdorf in charge of F&I.
Let's not get too excited. F&I is deeply broken and the people that you have mentioned, were a part of the gang that broke it. Granted, the Conner, et al., debacle didn't help things any. They came, fattened their wallets with stipends, housing allowances and gross salaries with bonuses. But those F&I "incumbents" aren't absent of blame.
There are some serious issues that the minions have been hiding for years (self-preservation) and they are going to be difficult for even Martinez to uncover. Someone needs to look into virtually every process and ask why, why again and why one more time. If there was ever an organization that was ripe for a full blown IG audit this is it. It reeks of waste, fraud and abuse - like a bad cologne!! You know the one! Someone should just try to understand why it takes over a year to get an AC unit in B121 fixed. Be sure to look beyond the charade of the "budget" and "prioritization" (this is the smoke that the minions hide behind). The whole damn group is ready for the scrap heap....Bailey and Sueksdorf included.
I am not sure that all the kings horses and all the kings men (and Anita) can put F&I back together again.
BTW, can someone explain exactly what Henderson does???
