Three Vice Presidents (and now the President) of technical divisions at Sandia National Laboratories do not have a Ph.D.: Hruby, Walker, Vahle. To my knowledge, these are the first ever Vice Presidents without a Ph.D. in Science or Engineering to lead techical divisions at Sandia.
Adam Rowen (no longer manager of the Materials Chemistry department) from Sandia National Laboratories does not have a Ph.D.

This information has appeared on the blog upwards of ten times. Are we to instantly conclude this is an outrage, or will you provide some evidence or perspective? I have known folks of all degree levels at the labs spanning from mediocre to marvelous. I've seen individuals be excellent in one role and an embarrassment in another.
June 26, 2015 at 11:54 PM is obviously a person with a PhD but no other capabilities or accomplishments of note, who can't understand why his degree alone doesn't make him more qualified than all those non-PhDs for a high position.

Also, study after study since '72 Pew reports conservatives as more happy than liberals. Silly Contrarian studies, where the anecdotal evidence is used shows Liberals more happy because liberal politicians smile bigger in portraits... actual Science article.

Hruby is a pathetic disgrace to Sandia, the national and to a national lab which bills itself as employing the "best and the brightest". Having a national lab director without a doctoral degree is like the surgeon general not having an MD.
