I just received my annual TCP-1 letter from LLNS and a summary of the LLNS Pension Plan. Looked in pretty good shape in 2013. About 35% overfunded (funding target attainment percentage = 134.92%). This was a decrease from 2012 where it was 51% overfunded (funding target attainment percentage = 151.59%). They did note that the 2012 change in the law on how liabilities are calculated using interest rates improved the plan's position. Without the change the funding target attainment percentages would have been 118% (2012) and 105% (2013). 2013 assets = $2,057,866,902 2013 liabilities = $1,525,162,784 vs 2012 assets = $1,844,924,947 2012 liabilities = $1,217,043,150 It was also noted that a slightly different calculation method ("fair market value") designed to show a clearer picture of the plan' status as December 31, 2013 had; Assets = $2,403,098,433 Liabilities = $2,068,984,256 Funding ratio = 116.15% Its a closed plan with 3,781 participants. Of that number, 3,151 wer...

When in comes the NNSA labs POGO has steadily lost credibility and influence over the years. My understanding is that no in Washington really takes them seriously anymore.

POGO is NOT taken seriously by Congress particularly when it comes the NNSA labs. POGO has had egg its face one too many times and people remember their claims about Tommy Hook, the nonexistence Mustang, and countless other things that never happened or where overblown. Reopening the case is a complete waste of time but I say go ahead and do it as it will only degrade POGO and along the these other nefarious characters.

No, only POGO has something to lose, so please bring it on.
"As our nation celebrates the revelation of Deep Throat's identity, we
should be mindful that blowing the whistle on corruption is still
dangerous. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tommy Hook and his
family. We have grown to admire Tommy's courageousness and integrity
over the many months we have worked with him. This assault will only
steel the resolve of Tommy Hook, Chuck Montano, and others to tell the
truth." said Danielle Brian, Executive Director, Project On Government
Oversight (POGO)." 2005
The weekend beating of a whistle-blower apparently had nothing to do with lap dances or laboratory troubles, Santa Fe police said Thursday.
After investigating Tommy Hook's claim that he was lured Saturday to a local topless club to meet a fellow Los Alamos National Laboratory auditor, police found no reason to believe it, according to a news release.
"The altercation involving Mr. Hook is an isolated incident and is in no way related to Mr. Hook's whistle-blower status at the Los Alamos National Laboratories," the release said.
Instead, the brutal beating was the result of an altercation in the parking lot of Cheeks topless bar, in which Hook allegedly backed his red Subaru sedan into a pedestrian while trying to leave.
"A verbal exchange of words occurred after Mr. Hook exited his vehicle at which time the confrontation escalated into a physical attack," the police department release states.
