It has been one year since the LANCE electrical accident nearly killed an employee.
How is LANL doing now in this historically problematic area? Have they improved to the point of no more electrical accidents? Or, is it still business as usual and there are numerous electrical accidents at LANL on a regular basis?

Truthful answers: No, and No. Are you feeling more informed now? How about asking more intelligent questions?
Or, is it still business as usual
Business is money, so yes business as usual, what else would it be?

Don't forget about Horrible Hugh McMcGovern. The LANS "backbone of evil".
Several electrical near misses have occurred since the original electrical incident.

If you know where to look in the incident reports, you can see that LANL averages about one electrical accident per week. About one in six of them are near misses.

Don't forget about John, Dan, Mark, and Sidatra.
Hugh McGovern is the real Lucifer in the flesh!
Hugh threatened to kill WETF workers if they didn't start closing out his PFITS. He called the facility engineers at WETF "f-ups". The guy is a raving lunatic and the Senior Managers did nothing about it. As to how this guy has a DOE Q-clearance is beyond belief, he's literally a loose cannon. One of these days, one of these days…..
You have to understand the bargain made between managers. You always say yes to whatever the manager above you wants and you agree that you will take the fall if anything goes wrong and in return your upper managers will ignore any complaints about you no matter how legitimate. In fact they have an entire department called Employee Complaints to make up a report showing that any employee who complains is wrong about absolutely everything. The upper management aren't going to lose their crash barriers/hit men too easily. Oh and as a manager get to name managers below you to act as your crash barriers/hit men, too. Only the so called team leaders, who aren't paid as managers, have any risk at all.
Yes if you aren't a manager you are nobody in their minds--even if you are an outstanding scientist. So any complaints you might have are not interesting to them. This is how WIPP barrels get packed any old way; employees have to do what they are told and can't complain. Ah the for-profit model, such a big improvement, thanks Congress.
The only people in management are failed scientists and they don't like people who are competent in their jobs.

LANS brought in and continue to bring in "red neck" managers (and I use that term loosely) from Savannah River with the attitude that were going to kick some butt-headed cowboy (New) Mexican scientist asses. Fortunately, some of these red neck managers got their own asses kicked as a result of the WIPP incident (e.g. Kathy Johns-Hughes). Your next Horrible Hugh!
