Domenici was many things, but a saint was not one of them. At the expense of the rest of the county, he fed the pork to NM for years and may be best known for fathering a child with the teenage daughter of one of his senate colleagues and keeping it hidden for more than 35 years.
"he fed the pork to NM for years"
What pork did he ever feed to NM? Your hate LANL and Sandia are about you and you alone. LANL and Sandia serve the nation not just New Mexico, you idiot.
9:53 AM. Your comment is very ignorant. Show me a politician who doesn't work on behalf of his/her constituents and I'll show you a polition that isn't going to get re-elected.
Dominici was an outstanding Senator who worked tirelessly for America. Unlike Udahl and Heinrich, he also understood the issues. He earned every vote from his constituents and colleagues on both sides of the isle.
It is sad that instead of a Senators who work to protect one of the prime industries in New Mexico, we now have Senators who enjoy destroying this state's national labs. LANL and SNL started going downhill once Dominici left office. He's dearly missed.
Heinrich surely hasn't been nearly as supportive of the core LANL mission as Dominici had been. I think Heinrich has some vague general ideas of turning the Lab into something else, perhaps an Environmental and Green Energy paradise. Who is advising this guy? What does he think would happen to Northern NM if the Lab's core mission was reduced or even eliminated?
