The story from Forestall is that NNSA did not like any of the presentations, only liked about a third of the written information from each of the three teams and NONE of the proposed lab directors. They are now trying to decide what to do, and an option to extend the current contract is on the table.

This is starting to sound correct from several whispers coming out. NNSA did not like ANY of the proposed Lab directors and did not like ANY of the oral defenses of bids. As a result, one option now open is to extend the LANS contract until NNSA can determine how to get rid of them and get a new M&O.

Here is a thought, if you read the contract call it had some very specific things it wanted. Is it possible that most of the bid teams had LANL managers on them who saw this as a huge "opportunity" just like the last time and wrote what they wanted not what NNSA wanted. I think they wanted to take everything that LANS did and amplify since it has been so good for them. Maybe they figured that nobody was going to bid or that NNSA would have to pick one of the teams. Just as life will find a way, LANS will find a way.
So NNSA is in a bind they can keep the current contract for another year and try again so we get LANS, or they pick one of the teams that are essentially LANS++. It is incredibly sad how we have gotten to this point.
Most managers think LANL should be run like a corporation, as such the CEO should be paid 37-50 times more than the average worker. I think many of the team members had expected that PADS, ADS or what the new ranks would be would be getting at least 3-5 million dollar in yearly payouts, and the director would get 20 million. This may not have gone over very well with the NNSA.

Based on what? More BS from the Peanut Gallery.
Correct and many NNSA wanted to keep it that way and that is why they don't like any of the current bids.

Grammar ad punctuation errors are endemic here, even with the moderator. No hope for improvement, since his knee-jerk response to criticism is not to try to improve, but to denigrate and ostracize the critic. I guess that the moderator sets the tone, as well as the "rules." This blog could use an infusion of some class.
