LANL was given a chance to become the Pit manufacturing Center within the weapons complex. But have proven that they cannot carry out their mission, cost overruns, saftey violations, the WIPP fiasco, missed deadlines, etc.. The latest news is a polite way of saying thanks but no thanks, we need a change, something that LANL never thought would happen, I've heard managers state "we LANL are too large to fail" well guess what? We have put on notice. You just cant put a positive spin on this one. One of our County Councilors said that he was glad the Pit program will stay in LA County! but failed to tell the whole story, but I think they know whats really going on.
