Battelle is in charge!

At the all hand's meeting, Mason was pretty clear that the new organization will be run in the Battelle way. He seemed to express disdain for the old structure in some of his comments.

Odd, it seemed extremely clear from the talk that UC-Battelle and Texas AM are in charge. Maybe a bit less with Texas AM but the idea that Battelle is in charge is nonsense on your part or just wishful thinking. I am going to go out on limb and bet you did not actually see the talk, nor where you even at LANL today. From what was said it sounds Battelle way has much more in common with the old pre LANS UC way. In any event it is great news for LANL that it will be run more like pre LANS than LANS! Hurray.

Look UC, Battelle and Texas AM are in charge, hence the name Triad. You need to come to grips with the fact that UC is part of LANL and will be for some time. Deal with, get over it and move on with your life. Hopefully LLNL will be get rid of Bechtel as well and the NNSA labs can get back to their former excellence.

So how does Battelle "run things"? When LANS took over they immediately began stating they were going to run things like Livermore. Does this mean were going to be hearing "at Battelle" much like LANS stating for 12-years "at Livermore" and never explaining what that meant?

Everyone expresses disdain from some of the crazy LANS things, and yes he was taking a shot at LANS and it is not hard to get which part of LANS that is, hint they are not part of TRIAD.

By the way how on earth did you get that Battelle is charge from todays update? I think you might projecting your thoughts on to your perceptions.

It was actually refreshing to hear Mason talk about lessening the number of managers from the top down, because it dilutes the information flow. I also like the concept of a COO, who is in charge of dealing with support organizations, and falls under the umbrella of the ALD. This is something that is sorely needed, especially in the current manufacturing organization, where the support have no skin in the game, i.e. RCTs, NMCA, construction, etc. A COO will hold these organizations accountable unlike the current LANS model.

Battelle has a pretty good track record in running labs for DOE and it is unsurprising that they have learned a few lessons over the years. As best value to the government, this was probably one strong consideration in the selection of the lead for the new team. Consider that LANS picked Anastasio to lead and he was already a lab director and Triad picked Mason to lead and he also was already a lab director. Time will tell if Mason can apply his own lessons learned at ORNL to the operation of LANL.

So, in as much as Anastasio and LANS brought the Livermore way to operating LANL, it is natural that Mason and Triad will show up and start running the show in the Battelle way.

OK now with todays news with Manafort and Cohen I think it is safe to say that Trump will be gone soon. Now the labs must prepare for the what the next administration will want. Will it be Pence, I think this will be hard because Pence will be so trained with Trump, not to mention it could actually be worse. I would go with Romney coming in. In any case it is clear that Turmp will need to leave before the
the next congress comes in, in fact he may be forced out much sooner to avoid the disaster in November, since as of today if Trump stays in no will vote for a republican again.

The Org charts for Triad are out now, and it is abruptly clear from that that Battelle is not "in charge", no one entity is in charge. There are some clear changes but they are to parts of the lab that had issues, if you know what I am saying and they are not part of Triad.

You called that correct. Battelle has all the business and operations under Triad, and most of that was run by UC under LANS.

Ahh, no. Did you even look at the org chat? No I am guessing you do not even have access to it. Science is intact and even enhanced, this would have been UCs part so if anything UC is going to play a bigger role. What has changed is rather obvious, and another hint, they are not part of Triad, but they did put in a bid. Think about it, who would have controlled business and operations under LANS...hmm, who could that have possibly been? Why do you think the contract was rebid and certain "partners" are not around anymore but certain other entities like UC are? Just something to think about. Obviously NNSA liked some things in LANS and not others.
