Bad bad blog!

I’ve decided I’m not going to look at the blog anymore. Why?

It provides no more information on the labs than a google search.

It is dominated by LANL people who, probably due to their isolation and separation up on the hill, have zero inside information.

I suspect, evidenced by some recent grammar errors of a poster who claims 25% of his division went to lucrative jobs in Silicon Valley, that the educational level of the viewship is very low.

viewship: word used by high education level person to indicate action of looking at a boat. ex. "We went to the harbor to get a better viewship."

Wishing you all the best in your continued search for good information.

We have noted that the spelling and grammar of some here are not the best. While tempting, the moderators do not correct the text of posts, limiting their actions to approval/rejection. The original copy is what you see, ugly or pretty.

Good you will not be missed. By the way I said 25 percent of the people over about a 10 year period left for all sorts of other jobs, including some in the high tech industry. You can say what you want about my grammar however my coding skills are apparently in high demand as are the skills of most of my coworkers, so again I reject your characterization that people from LLNL, LANL or Sandia have a difficult time getting jobs outside the labs.

In any case I suspect you will keep looking at the blog and posting. In fact you simply want the blog shut down since the posters easily shoot down your silly claims time and time again. Reality is not going to bend to your wishes no matter how hard you try.

I have to disagree on this, the blog has had many examples of useful information over the years.

Sounds you like have some issue with LANL people. By the way I also don't buy the isolation
and separation up on the hill bit. For example a large number of people at LANL travel to
all sorts of places all over the world. Also in any one week you one can see numerous talks from
people at universities and other labs again from all over the world. This argues against your assessment of LANL being isolated. If you have ever been to LANL, Sandia, or LLNL you would know that the people at LANL are not anymore isolated than people at LLNL or Sandia.

USS viewership?

At best it could be one poster has a low level of education, or it could be someone with a high level of education who just has bad grammar.

By the way if you really wanted to stop looking at the blog, why come out an announce it to everyone? It just seems odd, and I suspect you have some other motive or perhaps you are just bitter that you are having a problem getting a job outside the lab. Rather than claiming that it is somehow the labs fault you should look into what you can change about yourself to improve your chances at an outside jobs. I suspect that your issues have to do with you and not the lab. Think about this it is for your own good.

This is not a "bad blog." You may or may not agree with the posters, but (except for the ones that are mysteriously deleted by the overly autocratic moderators) you can at least read a range of opinions. As for bad grammar and spelling, that is endemic given the sorry state of US public education over the past two or three decades. Graduates from even respectable colleges and universities can no longer write intelligibly, or intelligently, even when holding advanced scientific degrees, due to the prevalence of autocorrect on texting and on emails, and the lack of teaching critical thinking in any schools, in any discipline, at any level.

A recent study has shown that, among US citizens less than 40 years old, only 19% can get a passing grade on the multiple choice "US Citizenship Exam" given to all who wish to gain citizenship here, testing US history and civics. Pretty sad.

OK, that is the funniest and most insane post I've read here in a long time. If you are a comedian, bravo. If you are not, you get both the Irony of the Year Award and the Seedpod in the Garden of Stupid Award (apologies to Greg Gutfeld).

It is the same guy who every few months says he is going to stop reading the blog but he cannot help himself and must respond with some insulting or snarky comment. This has been going on for years.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
