Why does Los Alamos need GRT taxes from TRIAD? Is the money going to be used to create an even bigger justice center when Los Alamos is already the safest place in New Mexico.

The thing is the crime rate was just as low or lower before LANS, so there is NO evidence that the GRT contributed anything to the town in terms of lower crime. The town is already wealthy enough with a fairly affluent tax base, why should it receive additional funds from the lab that take away from the mission. I have heard the argument made that the GRT makes the town more attractive to workers however I have seen no evidence to back this claim up. Somehow LANL attracted top talent during the time interval 1945-2005 without GRT. In fact there is some evidence that quality of the work force has in fact decreased since 2005 since the for-profit model has made LANL less attractive to top talent than universities, non-profit office of science labs and so on. The push for the GRT seems to be come from a smaller number of towns people who work for the local government and do not have any real investment in the quality of the science or technical ability of the lab. For example David Izraelevitz, (council chair) also happens to work at LANL but is a profoundly mediocre scientist which is easily checked by his record has no vested interest in a thriving science at LANL.
Well said!
I also didn't realize that only the "top" scientists at the lab care about its vitality. If so, maybe some of the "top scientists" should run for county council.
Izraelevitz was never cut out for science at LANL or anywhere else. The county is his cash cow now so he needs to keep it going above all cost to LANL or the nation.
