LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.

Bechtel baby! Live it, love, f it, cash it in, and move on!
The first year of TRIAD has been rather telling and puts into perspective just how bad Bechtel was.
(1) The level of professionally has certain gone up.
(2) The process of treating people seems much more fair.
(3) The who passing the back and saying management great rah, rah, rah and workers bad bad bad seems now be gone.
The whole tone of emails from management has changed, there are statements being made that I have not heard of in the entire time of LANS.
If you read between the lines it is becoming very clear that some sleazy stuff was going with LANS particularly when it comes to contractors. This by they way is of the MOs of Bechtel in how they leverage profit.
Perhaps so, but it is a "tail wagging the dog" situation. I'm glad to hear priorities at LANL have shifted for the better under TRIAD leadership.
Please bring Bechtel back.
"There have been plenty of complaints about Triad on this blog. Not sure it is sooo much better.

Agreed, but it is a bit better and we will have to see what happens next but I see some improvements.

Some left and some stayed but I think from the even higher ups they are getting the hint that things are changing. Hopefully this
is accurate and will continue.

There is some of the old managers but there are certainly some new ones as well especially at the top so maybe some things can change. I have noticed that some of the old managers seem a bit grim lately so something is up with them. Maybe the beat, pillage, rape, and laugh days of LANS are over and they are having a hard time dealing with it.
Who knows.
TRIAD seems more employee friendly than LANS, so I am not sure what you point is. TRIAD is certainly more professional than LANS. They are also starting the clean up the worst parts of the lab which are operations, contractors, and business practices. Under LANS this was a total disaster but that is the Bechtel way.

Although I agree with you assessment of McMillan I don't agree with your take on Mason. If you listen what he is saying and some of the changes you would know that TRIAD is cleaning up some big messes at the lab right now which is operations and contractors. Things seem a bit more professional now. You will notice that some policy changes have been rolled out and it is beyond obvious why these have been brought up and and who the targets are. TRIAD needs to get its ducks in row to make some of the changes.
Someone mentioned that there are minimal management changes below the PAD level which is true but they seem to be much more muted now, I have not seen some of hallway strut and snear that these guys had just a year ago. The emails that they sent out have also lost ther underlying tone of destain and creepiness. At least that is the look in my division, I have heard similar things for other parts of the lab but who knows.
