SNL employee tests positive for COVID-19 - https://share-ng.sandia.gov/alerts/2020/03/26/sandia-national-laboratories-evacuates-two-buildings-following-confirmed-case-of-covid-19/
Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Hey, its New Mexico!
You guys think you are so smart because UC is still involved. I have news for you Battelle is going clean house.
Crime spree in downtown Los Alamos, multiple business broken into. Expect a lot more of this, the next step will be armed home invasions, there is lots of money and loot in Los Alamos not to mention that there will be little resistance. Los Alamos is going to give back to the local community one way or another. It is going to get real ugly in New Mexico.
Maybe there will be nightly raiding parties into Los Alamos, groups of 15 or more vans, armed to the teeth with drug cartel money, the police will be way to scared to take that on and who could blame them. It would be best just to put some tribute on your front porch and hope that will be enough to appease them.
It couldn't be because all businesses and restaurants are closed intil further notice, could it?

Yes you are right, but once they clean those out it will be house to house.
Sandia has a bunch already 3000-4000 last week. What about LANL and LLNL?
BTW, I really wouldn't recommend pushing these cops up here either.
Once testing begins in Los Alamos, and the true rate of infection of the deadly disease for which there is no cure becomes known, cowardly criminals will run away from that hot spot.
3/30/2020 5:56 PM
Knowing how unsocial LANL people are there could be hundreds of dead people in houses that no one knows about.
4/01/2020 1:24 PM
Um, no. A private contractor cannot "close" a town. What are you smoking?
4/01/2020 1:24 PM
The moment those guards light up one of the cartel robbery gangs there will be huge rush of civil lawsuits, discrimination accusations, ACLU, media and so on with calls to shut the lab down. These guards know that if they want a future to just let them into the town and take what they need and call it social justice for the poor communities of New Mexico. The reality is that these criminals will never be caught because the price will be just to high to deal with it.

You really do not understand the hiring practices of the security contractors. If they step one unauthorized foot on LANL and brandish a weapon, they are dead. As far as the town goes, you must think we are a bunch of hippies. Heck, the hippies up here have guns.

Ok, I agree with you but we better not hope it comes to this. I also agree that the Los Alamos folks are pretty well armed. My point is that if they ever kill someone that it will look very very bad and there will be calls to shut LANL down. This sort of happened before about 21 years ago when a group of people started mugging people in the parking lot one night and the full force came out with machine guns and arrested these guys. The lawsuit said it was nothing but discrimination and racism. In the end LANL won but by just a hair...just a tiny hair. That was 1999. Now try the same thing 21 years later and I bet they will shut the lab down if even one person from outside LANL is shot for breaking into a house with a gun. We live in a different age.

As they say "never let a good crisis go to waste". This whole thing may be a huge opportunity to change society. Some will say we need to get rid of fake news and only allow certain MSN to have any say and determine what is seen and not to be seen. For example CNN and MSNBC are planning on not showing the daily press conferences since they know what is best. Perhaps laws will be put in place to determine what and who can be news. The idea of 1st and 2nd amendments are dangerous and need to be taken out. He who controls the narrative controls the world. I am not saying this version will come about but do you want to take that chance? Do you want to go to jail for life because you a re accused of hate crime when trying to protect your home. How is it even your home when you obtained from unearned privilege. If you don't think something like this is possible look how close we got to having Bernie Sanders as president. It is one thing when you get 1% of the people backing you it is another when you get 30%. Don't fool yourself, this could be big turning point for how we go forward. Power almost always goes one way, once the government has more of it they will not give it up Lots of people are going to want their 3K fee every month, no prisons, no accountability, and no consequences. Having people take care of themselves is a scary thought to many.
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward
Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both
For a wounded man will shall say to his assailant
"If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven"
Such is the rule of honor
More crime in Los Alamos, apparently 15 cars are have been broken into. It is a matter of time before they start going house to house to get more loot. I am not sure what is up with the police department perhaps they want to avoid lawsuits.
Good point but the windows where broken and it is not teenagers, video.
"And parents in Los Alamos think their kids are gods? "
It is not the kids in Los Alamos, which is why the police will not act. If a Los Alamos kid does something they are arrested IMMEDIATELY. If not well...you see how this works right. More crime is coming to Los Alamos much more.

Given the number of police per capita, and the number of privately held guns, and the number of surveillance cameras, both commercial and private, and the number of people who actively watch their neighborhood, I seriously doubt it.
4/05/2020 5:15 PM
Do you think this is fair to other communities in New Mexico. Why should Los Almaos
have so much police, so many people with money to buy guns and surveillance cameras. How is it that other communities do not get to have these things. This is end-stage capitalism. Covid19 has shown how unfair and unjust the US and capitalism is. Hopefully after this people will realize the idea of the individual talking care of himself is a myth built on unearned privilege. You don't see Covid19 devastating Norway, Cuba or Finland. You see it ravage the United States...this tells you something. Our way of life is unfair, unsustainable and not equipped to protect the people.
4/05/2020 8:47 PM"
And by the way, we need to have the federal government managing our health care (Medicare for all) in the same super-competent manner that they are handling COVID-19. Feel the Bern!
4/06/2020 5:20 PM
No I am saying everyone should a good police force. It is not fare that some communities have better police than others. Yes it is about equality for everyone not just a few.
4/06/2020 11:56 PM
You have to actually care about community safety for this "investment" to occur and from previous comments on this thread it is clear some outside of Los Alamos do not.
If you pay the "fare" you get "fair."
