What if elections are delayed?

So Trump is talking about delaying the election. Should the NNSA labs stop working in Nov if this is the case?

Sure, shut down the labs, but do it without paid leave. Now, ask that question with that requirement in the equation.

Trump cannot delay the election. The dates are set by law. Trump's term ends Jan. 20, 2021, no matter what, by the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

Why was this post allowed by the moderators? It literally has nothing to do with the labs, just a transparent attempt to try to paste an irrelevant political issue in here by a troll.

I think the odds are low but there are many serious people asking what will happen in general if the election is contested by either side. There is even talk about certain states leaving the Union are actual civil war. In that case a good question is what happens to the the NNSA labs and so on. Sure it is crazy but we are living in crazy times. By the way if China is watching they may just try and do something crazy as well like invade Taiwan in Nov or bomb a US ship.

But yes you are right none of these things matter to the labs. The moderator is horrible. We should go back and focus on how LANL has a bad safety culture because they fired you because you are the only important thing in the world.

We know exactly what happens if the election results are contested. The Democrats have never accepted the 2016 election results, and that is tearing our country apart with their false accusations, baseless impeachments, seditious insurrections, and racial exploitation. And the piper will eventually be paid over the massively corrupt abuse of the intelligence and law enforcement powers of the USG by the previous administration.

Again what does it mean fo the labs. Since the labs have a highly educated workforce I doubt any support Trump. He only gets uneducated whites to back him. So do the people at the labs walk or do what the military says? Most think the higher ups in the military will not back Trump, as they kind of hate the guy, after all he keeps wanting to pull out troops and reduce war. In other words many think he does work for Putin. Look I think Trump is going to be removed one way or the other I just want to know what the labs position will be if the election becomes contested.

I also think the labs blew it when they did not put out a public statement on BLM and a massive show of support. This could come back to haunt the labs latter. Right now it is time to get our ducks in a row if we are to survive the upcoming societal changes.

Also does anyone know who Bidens stance on NW? Could someone put a link to this.

And we thought Trump would lead us out of that wilderness of Democratic corruption an deprivation, even though we knew that he wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

You are correct, but whoever he is,he won't recognize that it is him. Sad.

So here is a few tidbits from Biden
https://livableworld.org/presidential-candidates-joe-biden/

Do you believe the United States can maintain a safe, secure, and effective nuclear arsenal for less than the current estimated costs of $1.2 trillion over the next 30 years?

YES.

Should the United States review its current policy that reserves the right to use nuclear weapons first?

YES

Do you support the new low-yield nuclear weapons called for in the Trump Administration’s 2018 Nuclear Posture Review?

NO.

So hard to say which way things are going to go. If Biden wins there could be big cuts. If Trump wins the money may be safe but if we do a new test it could totally change everything which could be good for the country but could also be bad for a lot of the people at the labs. Either way there is a lot of uncertainty. This is going to be fun.

Interesting take... one often shared by elitist leftists who are a sigma to the left of average IQ, but somehow muddled through their gender studies degree.

At LLNL there are quite a few Trump supporters. A good chunk are at the 300 and 400 level, but there are many at the 200 level as well sporting PhDs in diverse STEM degrees.

As for what would happen at LLNL if Trump delays the election? A gedanken experiment is required because in reality it cannot happen per Article II unless Trump, the house and the senate all agree to do so.
So, in this thought experiment, if the election were to be delayed, Leftist's heads would explode, and the central valley would flood with the saline tears of snowflakes from the Bay Area. Then people will show up Wednesday, and if COVID controls allow have some mildly interesting chats around the water coolers and in the few min before meetings. In other words... the usual.

QED.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
