Many national labs sue over vaccine mandates

I am amazed at how easy seemingly intelligent people forget that seat belt mandates infringe on their individual freedom.  Yet  no one has sued for that.  The difference? Politics, misdirected anger, trumpism, hatred... Anything else?

Before people get on my case as I said we should have done something I just disagree with the approach we have been using, saying "listen to the science" is also a bit silly since at this point due to the complexity of the problem scientific approach also suggest many different approaches. As for vaccines, I say sure take them, I think the risk is still low even with limited testing and even the odds are low of dying of Covid the vaccine could save you a from being pretty sick for a week. Should the labs mandate them? I say sure but also if you do any math on this with the current numbers of who is or is not vaccinated it would make almost no difference at al. If someone can give me a counter estimate I would be happy to share with you my math.

I do not know anyone on the lawsuits but I know for certain there are some people at LANL who did not get the vaccine where are not Trump fans nor republicans but pretty far left wing people. As for other people I know a few who will not get the vaccine because it was developed under Trump. Again the narrative that it is all these Trump supporters driving everything is just wrong. They are certainly a part of it but so are many other groups.

You clearly do not understand people. Check your assumptions.

I responded to this. I guess Scooby did not like the response. In fact less than 50% of the unvaccinated are republicans. Right now 43% of everyone is unvaccinated. Republicans are 32%, Dems 33%, and Independents 35% of the populations. About 41% of Republicans are vaccinated, so some simple math gives you (1/3)*.4 = .17, and 0.17/0.43 = 0.4, so that only 40% of the unvaxed are republicans. The idea that most of the unvaccinated are Trumpers and crazy republicans is false. I think a large number of the unvaccinated in general are people who simply do not care and have no political interests at al.

Also to the original poster there has been a number of lawsuits about seatbelts.

8:58 I applaud your use of facts to counter what is generally a politically motivated, emotional argument space. Hopefully freedom will prevail over media hype and public hysteria.

Being informed is not a virtue, it would seem. However, anyone who is of a mind may give this a read:

So LANL has about 200 people on leave of absence without pay. Realistically I do not think these people are ever coming back. Unless Covid disappears completely in a few months then I think this is it for these people. I would guess the lab will require a Covid vaccine to work at LANL at least for one more year and probably more than that. On the bright side they can probably find work elsewhere so I guess it is not that big of deal.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
