You do know ITER and NIF are very different. Was NIF ever stated as being a source of "clean energy"? I though they still cannot reproduce the "burning fuel" shot from last year.

The short answer is the same as the long answer. Nowhere.

I vividly recall at the regular morning meeting that Livermore Computing held daily where Mike McCoy announced the building of the new computing facility, Bldg. 453 - The TeraScale Facility, TSF. He stated that with the the ban on testing that the simulation on the super computers linked with the work of NIF, it would be a one-two punch to replace the testing in Nevada. The idea of developing unlimited clean energy was something to give congress, specifically senator Diane Feinstein something to hang their hat on to make the claim it wasn't weapons work, it was clean energy. Politics 101.

NIF is irrelevant to energy production. Period. Full stop.
