 WASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Reuters) - The United States must prepare for possible simultaneous wars with Russia and China by expanding its conventional forces, strengthening alliances and enhancing its nuclear weapons modernization program, a congressionally appointed bipartisan panel said on Thursday.

Hamas has taught us that nuclear weapons are irrelevant and that our money is better spent on fighting terror, be it from international actors or in the US case from the growing right wing extremest. We leaned very little from 9/11 if we put the billions of dollars spent on LLNL and LANL on fighting terror we would be in much better shape. It is time to re-imagine the labs to focus on stoping fake, news, AI, and terror rather than outdated weapons from the cold war.

Yes I am glad Trump did not get elected, has it ever occurred to you that all the problems we are seeing now are actually due to Trump.
People saw is J6 coup attempt and think America is weak. Trump moved the US embassy in Israel which started all this. Trump gave Putin the green light to invade Ukraine as part of he deal when Russia put Trump in in 2016. There is no doubt that things would be 10 worse if Trump was still in power. We are going to see damage from Trump for the next 20 years.

You forgot about Trump sharing Israeli intelligence with the Russians in the Oval office after he fired Comey. No doubt, the Russians provided it to Iran who provided it to Hamas. No doubt Trump weakened America.

And that is a fact jack, 100% certified lean truth, Trump also said that where good people on both sides at Virginia, worked for Putin, and killed millions of Americans by mishandling Covid. Thanks to Biden we have a vaccine that stoped Covid. This is on top of Trump having nuclear secrets just lying around his Florida beach house. No doubt Trump destroyed America, look at all the problems we have now...Trump, all of it. No matter how dark the world seems right now it was better than the hell of the Trump years.

And I recall that Kamala said she wasn't going to get a shot that was produced when Trump was president, but I don't recall Pfizer or Moderna producing a next gen vaccine in 2021, just that old nasty thing that came out in 2020.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
